Last few nights I've been doing nothing different, putting in "ea uk" for the search for servers and I noticed the other night that only 9 servers came back. So I thought tonight after getting f\/ck all back that they may have released another patch.

 

So downloaded the incremental for 1.22 and installed it but still no joy. What are they doing now FFS?

 

EA are a f\/cking pain in the @rse I must admit and I can see why people get so frustrated with them that they hack the games.

 

Especially when they release patches that haven't been beta tested properly!

What the hell is Ping and why do I always get kick for having a high one!

 

Ping is the round trip time for a packet of data to be sent from your computer to the server and back again. It's usually measured in milliseconds, and if it's too high (i) nobody will be able to shoot you because you won't be where they think you are and/or you'll keep appearing and disappearing apparently at random on the map... or you might just appear to be frozen to the spot, and (ii) you won't be able to shoot anyone else for the same reason(s).

 

Most games are pretty smart, and as well as positional info, transmit some sort of velocity information, which is why when your ping time is too high other players appear to slide across the playing area in a straight line sometimes. It's just the game's way of trying to smooth out the effects of ping time. It used to be the case the
