Last few nights I've been doing nothing different, putting in "ea uk" for the search for servers and I noticed the other night that only 9 servers came back. So I thought tonight after getting f\/ck all back that they may have released another patch.

 

So downloaded the incremental for 1.22 and installed it but still no joy. What are they doing now FFS?

 

EA are a f\/cking pain in the @rse I must admit and I can see why people get so frustrated with them that they hack the games.

 

Especially when they release patches that haven't been beta tested properly!

I am going to have an hour on it now, just finished night shift and its very peaceful and quiet in my house for a change.

tried for my knife badge and got it twice (5 kills in 1 round) but it never gave me my award! (the bastid!!!!!)

think its about 512mb ram with a 128 graphics card, with something like a 2,4Ghz processor IIRC

I think its spot on as it is only the 'first wave' of next gen games on the 360, look forward to seeing stuff that will test the 360 to its limits .....

Well i bought it yesterday and spent 2 hours playing !! Its rather good but its gonna be a while before i go online. Theres so many Fookin options ! i need to practice a bit

Yeah, well if you understand that all their developers, and QA people for that matter, are permanently in crunch mode, which means stupid 60 - 80 hour weeks, you'd understand why nothing works properly. I defy anyone to tell me they can write decent code, or test anything properly, after working those sorts of hours. Reason why I don't work in the games industry #1.

 

Know how you feel though: it's *very* annoying when all you want to do is relax for a while and the thing just won't work properly.

I think thats when your upload speed is too slow and everybody that tries to shoot you is unable to do so due to your lag/crappy connection speed, so to make it fair for the majority high pingers are punted.

Mate do you know how much a top games programmer gets paid to work for a company like EA? Plus most of them are probably contractors!

About $72000 pa (at least in the US, not sure about the UK).... but it doesn't matter: if you're a programmer who works a 40 hour week you'll be much more productive than one that works an 80 hour week because you won't have to spend as much time fixing your screw-ups IMHO. The might have a handful of star performers who can keep that up for an extended period with no problem, but most of their techies won't, even if they are extremely talented. If EA have a quality problem it's because they drive everyone into the ground.

 

But anyway, hope you got it working. I nearly bought BF2 last night after reading everyone on here raving about it... but I'm going to need a better graphics card first it turns out. :-S
