there have been some attacks on climbers in the region mate. the chinese are blaming this that and the other, the nepales are not talking to the chinese and on top of that the chinese have a bee up their ass over the UN and Iran.

oh dear! sounds pretty bad then, i dont think i would make a very good hostage LOL!!!

was really looking forward to going told everyone in work now im going to be made a laughing stock ffs!!

ah well there's always next year.

If it's dodgy, don't go.

There's loads of other great places or wait till it's ok for this trip then go. If it all turned to sh1t, it could get really nasty.

Hope you haven't had a load of expensive jabs that won't last - should be ok most do last.

Look at the places the Home Office says are ok - I wouldn't go near some of them so if this is on their 'don't travel' list, there's a reason.

always makes me laugh when i hear of people "wanting" to travel to crazy places!? not that you were bud but why is it that when students have done a few years they get the impulse to go travelling round an unstable country like in south america?? take that lady recently 50+ married with kids, does a college course the urge arrives so what does she do?? leaves all her family and goes to south america on her own and gets herself dead?? WTF why??

i have spoken to someone who has been on the same trip & they said it was the best time they ever had.

Poss not bud but then again if its not a crazy place why has there been attacks on holiday makers and the holiday company cancelled it?? ;)

go to spain mate

or if you want a challenging holiday go to the dom rep and spend the weekend with the locals in your hotel!! then you really know about a chalenging holiday :smash:

Hope you get it sorted dude

Can't beat a few terrorist attacks to spice a holiday up! Went to Bali and had the big bomb, rip.

Things outside anyones control can take over- it's a shame and frustrating but I presume your insurance will refund any costs.

I've been to both Nepal and South America (Peru to be precise) and had fantastic holidays both times. True, there are dodgy places in the world and travel firms have a duty of care not to let people go to areas where bad things could happen. It's a question of just taking it on the chin and sorting out your next break!

But there are some fantastic things to see out there- personally I find an "adventure" holiday more rewarding than beach holidays.

Good luck sorting something else out!

I went to Egypt in 94 & our coach had two armed soldiers following us from Cairo to Port Said. At one point, our coach broke away from the convoy because some guy at the side of the road with a rocket launcher stepped out & stopped the driver !!! I thought for a minute there we were going to be brown bread!

we didnt have a bad holiday but not the dream holiday we thought it would be :(

we just got a bad hotel i think!! bad normal buffet food, the resturants were pretty good but not much choice but the locals were animals!! they ate everything, when you were at the bar waiting to be served they would either push past or go to the back of the bar and get served before us as they would talk in the local lingo.

the trips were good, we swam with the dolphins, the outback safari was also very good and i went up the mountain with a couple of other blokes on 4x4's which was superb :) but from friday to monday we just left the hotel and ate out which cost a fortune :smw:
