I dont know if this has been mentioned before and im sorry if its a repost, but i own an jap spec n/a and was wondering if anyone knew anywhere i can get a supercharger fitted. i know i should if just brought a twin turbo :headvswal but you never think at the time just fell in love with it when i saw it.

As a last resort can anyone tell me how much it would cost to have a twin turbo put in ( any traders on here ), i know it would be cheaper to sell the car and get another one but i cant bring myself to do it cause its pearl yellow,2 seater manual and spotless i cant have a 2+2 cause it wont fit in me garage sorry to ramble on

thanks for all your help, advice and your time. Riceboy

All that money for a bit of lower down power, I don't think its worth doing myself.

If you are going to blueprint the engine lighten and balance all the moving parts to get it revving more freely and higher.

Then get the heads flowed and balanced and play with valve overlap, duration and lift to bring the power band lower, you can change the cams to do all sorts of things to where the power come in.

Lastly you can get some turbos that spin up damn fast nowerdays, couple that with a fast revving and high volumetric efficieny (spelling) and a good fuel system and map, and who needs supercharging.

I did consider just getting it turbo'd but was told that all the compression is wrong so i couldnt just strap a couple of turbos on. Thats why i considered a supercharger. Is that right then can i just have some turbos fitted?

Cheers for the replies guys, Black magic thanks for the links i read somewhere in there about just putting a v8 in, is this what mantaV8 has done? any ideas how much this cost

cheers bud

Loads of people on tt.net have done an NA - TT swap, so it must be a pretty common thing to do. I would go that route

Darren, Manta8 is a good bloke and will tell you what you need to no as for going down that line, also Liegh, Friday. and John Dixon have gone down this route too, so theres so V good info out there

n part with your £20 and you can P.M them ;)

No probs :duffer:

And yup....MantaV8 is doing just that...

And a damn fine job too by the looks so far...

There are various other members going down this road like John Dixon and Friday

##EDIT## lol....he beat me to it :D

Look Mate if you really want more power the best thing to do would honestly be to sell your car an buy a SWB Twin Turbo. If you are prepared to wait for a good one you should find a brilliant example of a 2 seater manual before too long. Its obviously a wrench letting go of your old one but make the break - i promise you its worth it.

At the very least try out a mildly tuned Twin Turbo and see if its good enough to make the break - once youve tried the extra power you won't look back.

The money you save simply buying a good TT rather than trying to supercharge or convert your car will be handy for some tasty mods that'll really make you fly.

Its alot of dosh to fit a supercharger your looking at somewhere between 4-5k you need to fit 550 injectors, larger rad ,remove aircon(thats where the charger needs to go) gearbox and prop change to tt stuff, the charger itself, custom pipework for it,engine oil cooler, ecu remap the list goes on ive done alot of this allreadyshould be good when its done but it cost a fair bit

cheers for all the info guys will look into all of your ideas, have e-mailed a few people in the usa last nite, will wait to see if they have got any chargers. But realisticly think i will have to look around and wait for a good swb to turn up and let her go

Thanx again for all your help guys

stock TT injectors should flow more than enough & be easy to come by

I have been told that stock tt injectors will do the job but it is advisable to fit the nismos someone who has done it before told me that :p

well unless you intend on boosting more than a TT it shouldnt be ness really!!

You have been told right, you can't just strap any blower on without lowering the compression somewhat, wel not if you are doing it propperly, so I think what all these guys are saying about getting a TT is the best thing to do, they are bmw eaters after all.

supercharger will fit on a N/A without lowering compression so im told but you need to set the boost quite low

Yeah you ar eright about that, but then whats the point?

After reading the first post and the mention of blueprinting his engine, the point I was trying to make was, if you are going to all that trouble you can get prety much all the low rev power you need without loosing top end bhp.

I know what I would do anyway.

I agree with you dude there is little point in it, its alot of hassle and cash for what will be about the same as a mildly tuned twin turbo but with a charger you would not get any lag or any delay im going to do it because im stupid :wack: and just for fun lol

a lot of superchargers run at only 5 or 6 psi on a normal compression engine.

you can actually fit stock tubs on a NA lump & run at safety boost 7psi. Z1 in the states have done quite a few conversions.

I believe eric has done this also IIRC

Now thats intresting I wonder how it would drive? I was thinking more supercharger because it would still drive like a N/A but would love to have a drive in someones zed whos done this

Well then bring on the blower
