the miss's an i have decided to try for kids in a few years as we're both about to reach thirty, as such i thought i should get the stupidness out of my system now, the result of this is that i've just got my MSA speed lisence through! which is cool! the only thing is that i've a difficult choice to make, bo i race these time trials in the z3 or unleash my beast on the public arena? i'll be driving in the street modified against the likes of leon's, golf's and cleo's the z3 might stand a bit of a chance but due to a loophole my 3 ltr non turbo would be matched against 1.8ltr turbos max so i stand more than a fair chance, so long story short do i strip my interior and loose as much weight from the zed or race the hair dressers car?

neither, buy a 1.8 turbo and strip that out.

I dont think either would stand you a chance. The Bmw z3 is not a great sports car, and would get eaten alive against modified hot hatches

...and a 1.8 turbo can easily be tuned to produce as much power as the 3.0 NA Zed but I bet it will be in a lighter car.

Go for it! I'd love to see more zeds on tracks here, make a change to all the ones stuck in garages! Dave

really, i just bought a non turbo 3000 gt so i'll have something to drive around in incase i used the zed! the thing is that these cars need to be driven, eah they cruise well and everyone stops and looks, but every time i take her out she feels like she really want to show what she can do. you know what i mean? running them round the roads where their could be kids, oap, learners can't be the same as opening them up on a track? i'm just still not sure though, i'd be propper crushed if anything happened

if its just for fun,go for it but as said above a decent tuned and stripped 1.8t will kill an NA zed :(

ok so what do i have to do to go faster then? its for fun and i don't expect to win first time out, but i'd like to at least be competative

if your set on using the zed i'd lose as much weight off it as poss, again as said before, you will be alot heavier than most 1.8t's and if they take it seriously you will most likely be under powered compared to them too.

hopefully you can prove us wrong though and do very well :duffer:

Why do'nt you modify the N/A ?? Nitrous, L/W Racing Pulley, Chipped and re mapped, Stillen headers, custom zorsts, uprated air induction system and L/W Fly wheel.

1.8 Turbo can produce silly power and outrun some modded 300ZXTT's!!!! Here's my Stripped out Nissan S12 Silvia 1.8Turbo which was producing 338BHP and 412ibft torque!!! Only weighed in at 868kg after stripping the whole lot out!!! Perspex windows, a drive seat + passenger seat and a dash with no ICE what so ever... It was load as feck, made the best noise too... Miss it really, was an absolute animal...

I meant quick as feck!!! (I'm tired, better get to bed!)

nice silvia, my mate would love it :D

i own a 1.8 turbo leon, its completely standard so wouldn't keep up with an NA (i think) but they are quite tunable. the engines are good for around 400bhp if you do it right  however, they are heavy standard too, weigh in about 1300 kg!!!

right so i can strip the weight without to many problems, just ordered some kevlar seats, but its the tuning bit that my head doesn't get, making things is a peice of pee for me, but i just don't seem to grasp engines, never have! so in your opinion were should i go, i live in berkshire so who's close, who's good, and more importantly who can you recomend? i do mind trusting someone who's got i right often, just don't have any faith in first timers?

There is a list somewhere on this forum of things that can be removed from the zed, it reduced the weight of by 250kg which is a ot if your in competition. I have searched but can't find it, I'm sure it was one of the traders that put it up.
