Not only is it funny, but it also shows how over the top the UK police force is on speeding when in NZ they get $120 fine for exceeding 100mph!!

I would hazard a guess that they don't suffer the same percentage of serious road accidents either in NZ. Plus their speed was 100 kph and IIRC they have far lower speed limits than we do on average. On a serious note though speeding is targeted to reduce road accidents and increase motorists safety and when it can cost in excess of £1,000,000 to investigate a fatal road accident you can see why the GOVERNMENT encourage the various road safety campaigns.

Nothing at all to do with raising revenue then??? If the local forces can raise revenue by catching speeders, then that is less that the central government has to give to the local forces...no wonder the government are all for catching speeders...

It's all about cost...

Endorsable fixed penalties and fixed penalties barely pay for themselves let alone raise revenue once all administration costs are covered!

The actual introduction of the fines was to reduce expenditure in Magistrates Court costs and so cost the public less in taxes.

lets not get into this again aye? it was posted to inspire laughter, not debate! ;)
