Bought an Irish plate for me zed, paid all me money etc and played the DVLA Waiting game.

 

Just had a letter through now saying before they issue it a DVLA officer has to come round and INSPECT the vehicle!!

 

Anyone else had this and WHY!!! :(

usually thats only done to inspect the identity/history of the car m8?

not been part of any claims has it? or first time registered

otherwise it's a strange one :confused:

i had to take mine to the nearest dvla centre ( 40 mile away) before i could put my irish plate on.

oh - and when i got there, the bloke came out of the offices, looked at the cars current reg, looked at the vin number and said "ok thats it, you can go now" after id taken a whole ****in day off work!!!!! :rant:

Sounds unusual - I've only ever known the DVLA to inspect donor cars and cars where the reg number is being removed and put on retention.....

have they said how long they'l be getting an inspector out to you, ive heard they can be tw@ts and take ages to come out.

could you take it to a DVLA office as theres one in sheffield.

just a thought.

thats a good point - what was your original reg jay - and where did you buy the new one???

 

myold reg (H6 GHB) would have been suitable as a private plate, just wonder if i had to go up there as a donor car if the reg company was selling on my old plate???

 

wish id paid the extra £60 to retain my old reg really - could have made some money on that! :smash: :smash:

could it be that its had 2 private plates on before? its got a private plate on at the mo and before that it had a private plate

thats probably it pal, they think thas dodgy :tongue:
