Ok This is the first night drive in awful raining weather around cornwalls rural roads I have done in the Z

Youre attention with this car has to be 110% ALL the time, this is the only time I havnt enjoyed driveing the Z and thought the 4wd of the gto would of been usefull :mad:

Unless you drive birds zed, i can't do sideways :tongue:

In all honesty the weather on my drive home from st austell to penzance was some of the worst I have driven in ....ever.

In cornwall you get used to crap weather but this was my first drive in the Z where every road was a mini stream waiting to slide you accross the road into the walls.

All I have to say on this subject is: "Its a mans car and therefore the driver should be as such? Otherwise there is always a supra or even better......A GTO." :tongue: :rofl:

 

(FOR THE LADIES) The reference of it being a mans car is only an expression used to distinguish between someone who might or might not be able to handle the power. :tongue: :tongue: :rofl: Not a derogatory remark against women drivers. :cool:

I love em in the wet, I had mine sideways this morn - much to my wifes disgust :D

The last starw lat night was when i went fully sideways with just slight acceleration

I cant but think how much better the z would be if it was 4wd as I have owned a few quattros in my time and it makes a hell of a difference

im sure you could have a skyline transfer box put in a Z cant be that hard can it?

At least our boats have 4 propellers as opposed to the 2 on your boats :tongue:

 

oh and while you are messing about going sideways (which ain't fast by the way) I'll just drive round the outside of you in my GTO TT :)

 

another plus for us is being able to use all of our power all of the time something that is not an option for you guys ......so don't pull up next to us in anything but perfect conditions or you're gonna be made to look very silly :rofl:

 

Hey Retro620ti, I take it you use to own a 620 Ti ??.... I had two of them a few years back, very underrated cars and quite good in the wet ;).... you should all listen to this guy instead of giving him a hard time!! lol

any rwd drive needs atention in the wet,don't matter what tyres you have you still have to be aware :) get it sideways on the straights instead!

anyway Thanks for the support from the gto owner but the only time I would want one is in the conditions like they were last night, I test drove a few phase 2 versions and the ZX, the gto is soulless ( but predictable driving ) I cant understand why it was called a barge cause it did everything I asked it to but there just wasnt a feeling of ejoyment I got from the Zx thats why i went for it :tongue:

oh yeah i had a few 620 ti's and they were a lot of underestimated fun

You lose a lot of power in a central diff.

 

4WD is for homos and lasses.

Almost bought a 620Ti.

There's a reason they're cheap - most commonly clutch failure IIRC!

the actual reason they are cheap is torsen diff bearing failure

Cookie racing do a upgraded box rebuild including heavy duty bearings for under £200

Quaife can also do a six speed box for em as well.

fastest front wheel drive car in the country is a 200 bubble turbo using the 620ti engine and box.

A few years ago it was the 620ti that held the fastest front wheel drive car

I know what Retro means, it was Pi55ing down here in Cornwall!!! I don't mind it though, just an excuse to drift and do some nice power opposite lock at lower speeds!!! :dance: Just make sure you've got some decent rubber as that's half the cause of your Z falling off the road and hitting something... Learn't this early on with My Z.... Never skimp on rubber, it's the only thing keeping you between getting home and going to hospital!!!
