lately ive noticed that when my car is cold it wont drive above 4000 revs in first second and third (never tried 4th 5th) without misfiring badly, and if booted when choke is on it will miss like fook when i change gear and accelorate again

also when it gets warm it stops missing but when cruising the engine sounds like a wheel bearing whirring, if i put the clutch in and coast it stops making the droning whiring noise

also again lol, if i have the defi button swithched on (the one that clears the inside of my winscreen) the car doesnt seem to dip when pulling away much, but when it is switched off it nearly stalls when pulling away

anyone shed any light on this please

thats all for now lol

thanks

Allan

Try checking the Mass AirFlow connector at the airfilter - It may need a clean as the MAF can affect the revving of the car. If its not reading it right you get this 'Limp Home' effect.

Also check the connector to the Power Transistor Unit - Make sure this is nice and clean.

THEN (!) Check the connector to the Crank Angle Sensor and make sure thats clean too.

All of these can have an effect on misfires etc.

If you do a search you will be able to find loads of stuff on these items bu they are all at the front of the engine bay and easy to get to to check and clean.

cheers bud will have a go tomorrow, today it wouldnt drive at all if accelorating, and when idling the revs were jumping up and down between 2000 and 3000 revs

Might be worth checking the TPS connector as well then! Again - search will give you loads of info on this as well.

well now you mention it, if i dissconect the tps whilst the engine is running leave it for a minute i get a clicking noise from down by the side of the battery

i then connect it and the car runs finew for about 50 miles then slowly starts to run shite again

but also does this if i do the same with maf

As above, PTU, coilpacks, Injectors, CAS, connectors..etc

Clutch idler bearing

also again lol, if i have the defi button swithched on (the one that clears the inside of my winscreen) the car doesnt seem to dip when pulling away much, but when it is switched off it nearly stalls when pulling away

TPS too low perhaps. THe Window demister turns on Aircon, which sends a signal to ECU to increase revs slightly to compensate, which is why its ok with aircon on.

Also clean Throttle Butterly valves.

cheers legrath, ive checked the tps and set it at the right setting, also how easy is it to do the clutch idler bearing

probably a box out job is it

Once you've done the mods - disconnect the battery to reset the ECU - This will then re-learn things and lose any 'adjusted' settings it has adopted.
