Hi All.

oh s**t ,went past a plain cop car with a night time lazer last night at

112mph ,lucky it wasnt 2 miles earlier but anyway,I,m nicked, when pc bad attitude had finished his hypocritical little lecture he informs me I,m not getting a fixed penalty but am going to court and will get banned.

In my defence I showed him my speedo has just bust,it was a totaly empty

dual carrageway at 12.30 at night and if I loose my licence as a hgv driver

I will loose my job,did it help,NO.

What do you think licence lost or not, with a brief and lots of pleading?

I got pulled over by a car with 2 officers on the M6 toll in and they claimed they followed me for 2 miles and that I was doing 100 mph. They didn't have any photo evidence and just tried to bluster me into taking 3 points.

They ddn't follow me for 2 miles and I wasn't doing a 100 and their statement makes me look really bad, completely misquoting me.

What can i do though? they have no evidence but their statements back each other up, but they are lying. Now best i can do i have the 3 points.

Nothing against police in general, but ive got 2 copper mates and they didn't do it to "fight justice" or "help people", they did it cos they weren't qualified for anything else and its pretty good money. Now theyre more reliable and trustworthy than me. *****x.

Bl00dy hell, got well in the zone there!!! Need to have a lie down now.

i would be very VERY surprised if you plead not guilty

that you would/could get convicted for speeding with no evidence

and two police saying you did ISN'T evidence!!!

some good points/views above and its one of those things non of us will all agree on, i guess cos ive got nearly a grands worth of camera/jammer stuff

that i expect to speed and hopefully continue to escape prosecution,

BUT if i got nicked then i've paid me money and took me chances, but good luck to you m8 get your grovelling pads on, id have less sympathy for you if it was built up or 30mph etc, but as you were nearly over double the speed limit

i think your in the shite

its true to say the copper was just doing his job, but c'mon whats up with coppers and common sense.

its late at night the road is vertualy empty...how many of us have driven at similar speeds when the roads not empty(id like to bet at least 85% of us) i know i have and to be honest doesnt really seem that dangerous, your in a car that can handle the speed your concentrating more BECAUSE of the speed your travelling at just because your driving fast doesnt necersarily mean your driving like a nutter.

lets face it we see people that drive at 30mph and still drive like nutcases by not indicating, cutting you up etc. everyday......well i do anyway.

its about time common sense was shown.

good luck bud.

p.s. sh1t just realised it was on a dual cariageway bit daft that, thought it was on the motorway.

When I saw the title of this thread, I though to myself - North Wales Police. Expect NO SYMPATHY from traffic police around here whatsoever. I don't speed around here anymore, it's just not worth giving them the satisfaction. Whether it's 02.00 or 14.00 they'll be there, IR cameras and all, yet it's common knowledge that they egg-on young drivers here to race them and then nick them. Many of them are taunting arrogant *******s with a juvenile approach to policing. I've not got a bad word to say against traffic police from other areas, in fact they've always been very helpful and fair.

I drove to Holyhead tonight down the A55 and they were waiting on the Gaerwen slip road, there was virtually no traffic around. You may only get a short term ban in which case you may be able to book leave for the period of the ban. Hope they don't hit you too hard mate. PM Muffy on here, he may be able to help you with the legalities.

I should add that one of my work colleagues got lasered at 90 then followed/officially clocked at 115 for a mile near Rhosneigr on the A55 and got away with a 2 week ban, make sure you play on the fact that your job depends on you having a driving licence.

I got a 2 week ban for averaging 100.0 down the A55, but that was in 1990!

We are too ready to moan for a police officer doing their job and when they let you off they are great (not doing their job) yet if you went to a garage and they DIDN'T (ie not doing their job) fix your car you would be fuming?

At the end of the day the police officer has done nothing wrong by sending you to court, YOU were the one seriously exceeding the speed limit. Even more so if a police officer lets you off then that is a form of corruption and they should be disciplined and who wants a corrupt police service?

No one is asking to be let off. the point the rule must be applied in the circumstances. Doing 112 at 12am on dual carriage. common get a life.

The policeman himself cannot say in all honesty he's never ever broken a speed limit before and who was doing the job of catching them?

when you do go to court ask when the last time the camera was calibrated. i know you can argue around that way. my mate did it but im not quite sure how it worked.

hth

tut tut tut timbomax :smash:

well i got it on the a55 a few years ago i was doing 113mph on a crowdwed carrage way, got stopped tried to be all sorry but now way to court i had to go, anyway i had a letter from work saying that without my liscence it would cause me exeptional hardship, i also took my soliciter in with me who spoke over me, :)

and i also had a letter from my uncle who is an ex- cheif of police explaining that he had given me a stern talking to about the dangers of speeding to myself and danger to others, :slap:

so what did i get

21 day ban, and a £300 fine

god i was lucky, but then again it really depends on the court on that day, just make sure you are well dressed and a good soliciter and a letter from your work saying you might loose your job if you loose your liscence,

im surprised you havent lost it already for playing loud music from the cab

i saw you in bangor but couldent get your attention as you were singing along to westlife i think it was :slap:

anyway best of luck to ya fella

dewi.

Hey Dewi, was that you turning off the A55 at Llanfair PG in an Audi RS6 tonight? If so you passed me just before exiting.

I got busted for 104mph, got 2 week ban and 175 fine including costs. Just said needed license etc... so they went light.

Also had a clean liecense to start with which always helps.

didnt have to retest or anything.

Luckily I didnt get points instead of a ban cause I was in my 2 year probation period and then would of had to re test!!!

I would have got out of the car and after rubbing my hands over his buttons and badges, said. Oh sorry officer I'm Blind :dance:I am still waiting for my brail speedo.

i got caught a 119mph in a 60 zone by a traffic cop went to court with a letter from my boss saying i will loses my job. it was my first points i got £250 fine and 6 points

hang on. didnt some fella get off the other day for doing more on a deserted road late at night etc?

if the law has stood up on one occasion it has to stand up again. id go see a solicitor mate.

Its me........

Listen some of you are giving this bloke a bit of a hard time. The man is a fellow "SPORTS CAR OWNER" albeit a ZED. If he decides to give hes car a run and he gets caught then he has to face the concequences but dont tell me you havent at sometime done the same or similar? What point is there in owning one of the fastest cars on the road and keeping to the speed limit? Give the guy a bit of support here and dont be so fookin hypocritical. Next time it might just be your turn?

I personally hope you get a result mate and the magistrate dont ban you. As for the copper :xxx: Fook him hes just using hes position to scare you. at the end of the day its got nothing to do with him what you get. He has done hes bit now its up to the courts to decide your fate not him. Get your solicitor to mention the fact that the police officer told you you are getting a ban and its caused you no end of stress and worry thinking that you are going to lose your job.

Also tell him to say that the car is capable of a lot more speed and you was taking it easy? (That bit is a joke BTW)

Unlucky mate, take it on the chin whatever happens.....I take it you didnt know they 'policed' that stretch of road?

Kinda makes me glad me zed is only on the road for a few months of the year, it's just far too tempting with all that power...the diesel keeps me 'well' below the limit...:D

The police have a responsibility to police the roads, a lot of "real criminals" drive cars and use them to help commit crimes. Does it not make sense that the police use a % of their resources to police this.

Using the money gained from speeding fines to fund traffic cops makes sense, that way its not a drain on the funding they get from the government and there will be more Police available to catch real criminals.

It doesn't make sense when they dedicate the majority of resources to catching speeders because it boosts their own budget and neglect the rest of the crimes.

Look through previous posts here and you will see posts of crimes that have been reported by the good guys on here and the cops have either not turned up or not been bothered...

When it comes down to it, the real crimes are driving without insurance, MOT, tax etc...speeding a little does not cause injury on it's own. The cops would be better off catching burglars, rapists, muggers etc but that does not boost their own coffers so they are not interested. Instead they go all out to catch speeders....it is wrong...

It may well be academic as he was exceeding 100mph but the limit on a dual carriageway is 70 not 60 mate..........

Richard

It is only 70 where there is a central reservation it si 60 without one

What was the Fuzz driving? Bet you would have whipped their ass in a Z

Its me........

Getting a bit regular this

BUT totally agree

Good luck mate

hope you don't get stitched mate, im not guna enter into this discussion because with this sort of thing you never change people's minds :)

i speed regularly as we all do, if i get caught i hope they take it easy on me :D

good luck!

PMSL!!!

one rule for the public.......

12 Months in Prison and a 3 year ban for 160mph! - March 8 2002

Last year a biker was stopped in Wales for speeding and the police discovered an on board video camera.

When they played the tape it showed him riding at upto an indicated 160mph

The rider - Wayne Soman, 32, was prosecuted on the strength of this video and today was sent to prison for 12 months and also given a 3 year ban and ordered to retake his test.

Chief Inspector Ian Miles, of Dyfed Powys Police said: "Clearly the judge in this case recognised the serious danger to the innocent public by an individual who posed a serious threat to them by his careless and irresponsible driving."

No accident occured and no injury occured - yet the rider was sent to prison for a year.

and another for the police......

I was testing the car, says Pc clocked at 159mph

By Becky Barrow

(Filed: 20/04/2005)

A policeman accused of driving at up to 159mph said yesterday that he had simply been trying to "familiarise" himself with the new car.

Pc Mark Milton, 38, told magistrates in Ludlow, Shropshire, that he had taken out the new, unmarked 3.2 litre GSI Vauxhall Vectra to assess its capabilities.

Milton, who qualified as a Grade I advanced driver in 1995, said he had never driven the model before taking it out on patrol early on Dec 5, 2003. He denies a charge of dangerous driving and five separate speeding charges.

Milton, from Bratton, Telford, said: "I had taken the opportunity to familiarise myself with that vehicle. At no time did I consider that anybody would be at jeopardy given that, even on advanced courses whilst still a student under instruction, I was being encouraged to drive at speeds greater than 145mph on motorways."
