Not sure. I would really like to go, if my car is running properly. But I would feel lut of place. I mean a fast car among a bunch of bangers, isnt fair :slap: .

Will you be going, never know if it is a good day I might come out.

cool,i'm expecting really bad times as i have the worst tyres i have ever came accross lol, they are trampio??? more like tyres for tramps, lol :wack:

Paul

Well as my title night says I am running safety boost. But I will be working on the car Friday night until complete, weather permitting.

I hope that once I install my o2 sensor it should all be well. But am hopefully meeting a m8 on Saturday to give me a wee help.

If I do make it sunday it will be a good chance to see before and after times of the 1/4 strip to check differences with my Trust SMICs.

I should be running roughly 14.5 psi, nisstek ECU, Apexi Power Intake, Blitz BOVs with decent rear tyres and auto  . I think if we come up against each other you will probably beat me, never been on the strip and never seen above 10 psi  .

But nonetheless I will give it a go.

hi dave, same as yourdelf i'm just there to get a base time as the next trip i will have my full set of toyo's,i will probaly run 0.9bar as on 1.2bar i'm still spinning in 4th :wack:

best ive had so far at crail was a 13.1 in my old swb targa top running 1bar

Paul

Dave G,

whereabouts are you doing the work? I have a set of O2 sensors I`m fitting this weekend. just bought the crow foot ratchet to do the job.

ronnie

I was going to go work with a m8 in National Tyres on Strathmartine road but I am just going to give it a bash at the house. I actually just dismantled everything to do it. I ripped the thread while taking it out. I will try and retap the thread first then if that doesnt work I will replace the adaptor inside the manifold.

I have all the tools and since I removed all the gubbings around it there is much more space to fit them in. I will be fitting these at my house as the car is very stuttery with the o2 sensor just plugged.

You are welcome to come round. I wont be home till Friday late afternoon. But I plan working on the car all night and 8 till 12 on saturday to hopefully fit in all of the oil plate/guages.

PM sent Ronnie

Dave

Will give you buzz mate later today. Saturday sounds good. BTW think I met your mate at national tyres cos he did a homer and fitted my exhaust a few weeks ago.

ronnie

Barry his name is.

He said another Z was in. Hes daft as a brush like myself. He might come round too to give a wee hand.

I hope that my car is running properly on Friday so shouldnt be too much work on Sat for me, but I am always happy to help. The aim this weekend is NO MORE SAFETY BOOST!!!

Dave G

might be going dunno if i'll be going up the 1/4 mile though unless it's dry and good weather or if there's a few 300zx's wanting a race?..

fancy a bit of drifting though just to get used to controlling the car going sideways (legally).. as it stands right now i'm rather b*llox at it.

my mate asked me to go, a ford-head (was as the falkirk meet) so i'll probably end up going so i'll see yous up there.

Looks as if all is good for me. o2 sensor has been replaced. The last thing to do now is fit in my engine temp sensor which will take all of 5 mins. Once this is done it will be code 55s all the way.

Meeting up with Craig today nd going to give my oil plate and gauges a go. So should have full view of how the engine is operating.

I have never been on the strip, but as you said Kev weather permitting. Might even rope my fiancee to come round the skid park too.

Dave G

i was gonna go down in the Charade and show up some RST's  but not if the weathers like this, its dropping lumps up here! il ever get the grip and i think a lot of folk wont bother either.

Fraser

Im going to head off in a couple of hours. I wont be on the strip, car is totally fixed but is still on safety boost. Would be goo if someone let me sit along side them, to see what the strip is like

Hope to see a few of you there, Ill give you shout.

Weather is looking hopeful and pretty decent just now

Dave G

you shoud have asked mate if you wanted a go up the strip wouldn't have been a prob. My best was only a 13.8 though.

Hope you get that safety boost prob sorted soon, must be killing ye!

  • Author

nice to meet you kev,13.8 isnt too bad,i think if i was lucky i got into the 14's :wack: ,even an astra beat me,rofl

Paul

yup, nice to meet you too mate, never seen a slicktop in the flesh before either! nice.

well 15's aint bad for a slipping clutch.. that old astra is quite fast, beat me by what seemed like 1/2 a car length.. noticed he used his NOS though.

i feel better now that i wasnt the only one beaten by it,lol

on the one run i got without much clutch slip i beat a white mk2 escort but it seemed very quick, any idea whats in it?

Paul

don't have a clue... seen a few other ones with throttle bodies etc plus it probably weighs half that of a Z.

did you see Dave G? i don't know whether you had gone by that time but he arrived.. still on safety boost unfortunately but i don't know whether he took it up the strip just to get a reference time or not.

Good to see some Z's all the same!

no,i missed dave,i left after the last race we had,i'm hoping to be up most times before USSC,once i get my slippage sorted i should be able to hit 12's(it was sooo frustrating not being able to floor it) lol

Paul

ok no probs.

i need to master the art of launching, that's where i'm losing time- maybe some wider rims wouldn't go a miss either.

12's would be nice to see.. hope you get it sorted soon!

Yeah Paul I just missed you. Made it just in time and took this one of two of you then you were off.

By the way, the guy with the astra has always tuned vauxhalls. His previous was a 1.2 sting totally standard outside. But under the bonnet was a 2.0 16v lump that was highly tuned including nos etc and was getting in the 12s. Must have taken the engine out and stuck it into that shed of an astra.

Didnt take mines on, thought I would play it safe.

Was good to see some of us out there. But on the whole was a pretty dissapointing day, poor turn out and not many high powered fords compared to previous years.

Dave G

Damn,

I took a pic of you 2 at the start line. Cant take it from my phone for some reason. Ill get it later and put it up.
