Hello all!

 

Im having the horrible rear spoiler removed & the tailgate smoothed & resprayed! I know there is a skin that you can buy, but that gives a slight lip & I don't want that!

 

I want it smoothed off, but others I have seen have a black strip across the back (above the rear lights).... Do I need to order this part & where can I get it from!? Do some of them house the rear brake light too!?

im going to do this mod as well cos my spoiler is all cracked and full of water

Yeah me too. Any opinions on whether to leave it all smoothed off or aftermarket spoiler....

yep! ugly, dated, nasty foam thing that ruins the stock lines ;)

You're not alone Chris ;) (Although I did get a fibreglass replacement from Luke :D )

 

There were some concerns over high speed stability without the stock spoiler. The same problem more recently affected the Audi TT...

No i like it too infact I have to be honest I HATE the tailgateskin :cool:

Search on TT.net with people who have removed the stock spoiler and gone for the no spoiler NA look. They say when you get to over 60mph the back end feels light. Didnt feel safe at all.

The NA is capable of 145+mph and that came without spoiler as standard ;) I've been in quite a few without spoiler, and noticed no difference.

 

Maybe above 160mph......

 

..anyway, thats what the 99spec spoiler is for :D

LOL - maybe, but not having taken mine off, I can't talk from experience ;) Agree though, I do like the 99 spec rear spoiler :cool:

tailskin not nesercerely needed, i just had mine filled, came up a treat did need a new braklight panel though.

spoiler dumped,tailgate smoothed, new perspex infill with brakelight. also stops the tailgate dropping on yer nog!

I had mine, plated and filled the smoothed, its same colour as my car. I have an aftermarket spoiler and i love it...

 

smooth arse-end with a good spoiler looks perfect IMO

No, I think the original looks georgeous. Mines cracked and is soon to be replaced with a fibreglass replica of the standard one from the z centr :) e. :)

... Agree though, I do like the 99 spec rear spoiler :cool:

Agree with you guys, I love the 99 spec one, thats why one is 'Winging' it's way over the Atlantic as we speak :D

i am with you bud. not a fan of the smooth look and i am about to order a huge mac 1 style pram handle :dance:

my rear is completely smooth!

rear bumper blended in as well
