have you tried a solicitors letter, and going down small cliams route?

even a used car has to be sold as fit for the purpose.

FFS  How much did you pay for the car? How old is it?

If it was meant to be mint it'd be £38k or whatever they cost brand new.

Everyone has a list of niggles and problems with their cars, and all this talk about small claims courts is ridiculous and wouldn't stand stand a chance.

I appreciated you've been unlucky with this zed but lets not make it out to be something it's not.

Why do you think zeds prices have taken a battering over the last few years? Because they cost a fortune to run and maintain. If the cost of keeping it on the road is surprising you then you shoudln't have bought a zed in the first place. They are expensive end of.

No offense meant, but I just think people buying one with a budget of whatever the car cost to buy are being unrealistic and will soon be bitten.

I too thought this was taking the piss abit

was gonna start a help djtomo fix up his house an pay the mortgage thread

Not that at all mate, but do you budget on your car costing you £4k plus to get it running ok?

And that is before you fix the problems for the MOT

I new the car would be expensive but dontr you think that takes the p**s a little

Pete mate you are right but the car should have lasted more than 2 months? I imagine you would be mad if it was you? The small claims might be a bit OTT but the seller should have some responsibilty for the car he sold, cheap or not he told Bird it was a good car and it wasnt?

  • Author
TBH I've not read the full details of what problems the car's had, so might have jumped the gun a bit.

Its ok mate.

Basically i have spend £3k so far

the car now needs a new engine.

Also something that i have not mentioned before until now. . .

It looks like the car has been re-sprayed on the back arches and possibly been involved in an accident.

Who knows? again something i've not been previously advised of.

then theres the argument why didn't you get an AA or similar car inspection,i agree bud you were ripped off,but theres a normal check the car over, and theres checking underneath for corroded brake pipes, which generally you dont do,my post has been deleted of what i thought of this thread all IMO so not sure of the problem, maybe instead of a cash fund, you get a few members who would be interested to take on the work as a friend that way its a favour rather than a cash donation

just my 2p worth

I might be a grumpy arguementative twat at times .

Well who would ever have thought that eh!!!! PMSL...

I'm sorry that this has upset people the way it has. It was meant to be a way of getting a car back on the road and as Bird is well liked, as are others, I for one thought it a good idea.

Can I just go back to the thread that started all this and paste something that I posted there,

Why don't we have a bi yearly event to help out people in need, guys like bird. Maybe do a sponsored beer drinking fest or something, or get everyone from the Z world going to jap fest or jae to put an extra couple of quid into a pot and hand it over.

That would benifit lots of people that are haveing a bad time of fixing thier cars and see less being stripped for spares.

I can see how some would get upset that one guy is getting help and they are not, but if we had a fund for such things then we could all do a poll to see who we thought should get help, be it money or just time.

Just a thought but a fiver is one packet of fags, and I'm sure that most of us can spare a packet of fags.

at the end of the day no one was been forced to donate to the Bird Flu Fund!!!

he had the balls to ask for help.

I didnt and wouldn't put money into this fund as i believe everyone has there own problems. IMO

but Bird is a canny lad and i'd help out in whatever other way I could, and have in the past.

I have came to realise I can't afford my 300 at the mo! I have decided to sell up for now and buy a cheap runabout

I'm after £2150 ono which is silly cheap cheap for a uk spec! (And less than I paid, but times are hard and its gotta go ) - Will part ex/swap for a runabout.

Call me cynical, but makes me wonder how much the seller knew? :nono:

Chill out chaps, no one is forceing anyone to pay anything. This suggestion came from forum members, not Bird. If he poo pood it, people would think he was ungrateful. He's caught in the crossfire and probably now feels very embarressed. If you wish to give, do so, if you don't, then don't, but just let it go. We all have opinions on various things that appears on this forum, wife trouble, neighbours from hell, and your job, but hey it's life, and we all know it aint smooth, agree, disagree, we are all different.

spot on

i was one who said i would donate, before bird put that post up (not a bright idea lol) and i still will as IT'S MY CHOICE, others were saying how they were going to pop up and help him, and i aint in a position to do that, so i'll do the next best thing, even if it buys a few beers for the guys who go to help, so when they arrange to get something sorted i'll do it

not a lot of difference than when others have had an accident etc and people

have offered parts free of charge is it?

Bird I think you were spot-on with this approach, you've asked for help enough times and stated your case in public enough for the other members to know what the hell has gone on. Basically a member on here has sold a pile of crap, and has walked away, which in my mind makes us all look stupid!! We've always gone on about buying from trusted, established members on here, and now that has backfired! I think a little more sympathy wouldn't go amiss and a bit more offers of help where possible, after all we are supposed to be a welcoming club who look after their own, but I'm not seeing that here at all. Personally, I'd say it's shame on everyone who has put Bird down on this thread, after all, how would you feel if it had happened to you?

If we can't trust the subscribed members on here, who can a newbie trust?

If anyone finds this a little out of order, then that could be because it's 2:30, I've just come back from the pub, and I'm pissed :D :duffer: :duffer: (but I can still type, I think ;) )

Thanks for that.
