4 years ago when me and the wife bought our house when i decided i wanted a second car i knew i wanted a a jap sports car

i had £6k to spend

i thinned my options down to 4 cars SUPRA, RX7, GTO, and the ZED TT

the SUPRA at the time was slightly too expensive as i wanted the aerotop(targa) one as the hard top ones were quite popular especialy after fast and the furious.

the GTO was the least favourate out of the 4, didnt seem like a sports car more like a executive saloon.

the RX7 was and still is absolutley beautiful motor, but the fact most had engine rebuilds or needed rebuilds at 70k miles put me well off.

which left the ZED

it just seemed perfect, reliable, targa tops, nice to look at, fast, tunable and i couldnt find a single bad review. plus it was the cheapest of the lot.

and the rest is history i was the first british owner of a red j-spec 2+2 twin turbo with a few mods and a veilside front end and odd wheels(18s on the front 17s on the back)and i had cash left to spend on some new wheels. which ive since had resprayed, retrimmed, bodykit and a few more mods.

and i have never regreted buying it............

.......honest :D

I just wish my car was as fast

I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:

Because my mate really rated them and said they were the best value for money speed weapon availiable.I got mine and almost immidiately he got his.

I had a lovely Skyline GTSt but just wasnt quick enough so got my Zed before new year, spent a fair bit on it through bottom end rebuild, lost a bit of hair through stress, replaced countless connectors and now it seems to be running okay.its running sub 6 secs 0-60 now and isnt in safety mode anymore.

the 300ZX is the best value sports car in this country i believe.

Had a 280ZX (2 seater manual) about 18 years ago and loved it. Didn't like the older style 300ZX, but when Nissan restyled it in 89 I just fell in love with the shape and have wanted one ever since.

So, prices dropped, I saved some pennies and finally got one last Friday. Mine is 14 years old, yet it doesn't look dated imo, I think it's just about spot on for looks.

I think the missus is feeling left out though :)

i know what you mean about the missus sometimes i feel well guilty when im having to spend money on the zed, its fair to say weve had our share of heated discussions over it.

wanted one since I was about 15. Saw how cheap they were going for when I finally got a job paying money and could not resist.

1st one, cos ive always wanted a Z (well since 1991) and i wanted one to replace a bike

2nd one, cos it was cheap and more importantly, it was a SWB TT Slicktop!!

3rd one, cos it was cheap and a SWB NA Targa, which ive wanted as a daily motor for a while!! :D

4th one, oh hang on, i aint bought that yet!

Probably won't be long though, knowing you ;)

I have been a Z fan for years but could never afford one. After I went self employed and started earning decent money I promised myself I'd have one eventually. I kind of forgot about it for a year or so, then a black stunner came up local to me (my old TT) and I was in a position to buy it at the time - so I did!! After owning that I realised I didn't really earn enough to do what I wanted with a TT (big power costs BIG bucks :(), which is why I changed to an NA and was lucky enough to get the '96 I have today which, again, just cropped up at the right time for me :).

I had a 88 Z31,N/A loved it to bits intill a little arse hole speeding down the road decided to go into the side of it then I missed it so much I bought a 89 Z31 turbo again loved it fantastic car but I had been there done that was never the same as the old one so time for a new flavour my N/A Z32 much better than my Z31 turbo like having the first one back again fantastic:D

Because:

a) they are the most bhp for the money I could find

b) my mate let me have a drive of his.

Didn't need any more reasons :)

well ive always liked jap cars, was driving an s13, got sent to iraq again for 6 months and decided to blow every penny i made out here on a big jap car

rx7=too tempremental

skyline= not worth it unless its a gtr

supra= too expensive

gto= mate had one, didnt like

i didnt know anything about zeds, came across one while looking for a pulsar, i then spent weeks reading every review i could get hands on, and never read many bad words at all. and its nice to have something a bit different, as there not as well known as the skyline/supra etc. oh and also bcoz of t tops! there for winners!

I noticed Zeds years ago, thought how low and wide they looked, but did not realise that they were twin turbo and bloody quick. Last year my son bought one and had the chance to drive it on a few occasions.....that was it, it became a must have. Bought one off Ebay without even seeing it apart from the photo, 40K miles and turned out the auto box was 'unpredictable' when booting it. Swopped it for a manual box, fitted JWT chip and boost jets and whoooooooooooosh. It goes like f**k and returns 25 mpg on Optimax. (£1.03 per litre at motorway services)

Had a few fast cars thought i had a fast dont laugh well too much Vauxhall carlton gsi3000 24v spent a bit of money on it a had 160mph out of her trying to catch a black 300zx on the m5 northbound near birmgiham about 2 and half years ago and well i couldnt catch it lol.So i bought one to see what the fuss was about and the rest is history.

Because i was fed up of all the 4 bangers (4 cylinder ;)) cars previously. Yeah the 200sx revved higher than the previous lot, but it was a boring 4 cylinder noise.

So sticking loyal to the marque i got me Z  with 6 cylinders and 2 tubs :p

Always liked the Zed, but always liked Yanks and Hot rods more so never bought one until last year when i just about had enough of spending all my spare time and money constantly rooting around in grease and oil to keep on top of the jobs. So thought Fook it by something fast reliable that i could use everyday if i wanted

In hindsight the Zed is no different to my other cars needs TLC all the time

and fuel bill is horrible compared to my yank !!

Still its fast comfortable and fun in the sun with the roof off, and you dont run the risk of braking down everytime you travel any significant distance ! :hyper:

a ex boyfriend had a 200sx and was telling me about 300zx I actually liked the 200sx initially (though not the back end twitching)thought the 300zx looked good though

a mate saw a 300zx at a dealers I went to see it..

I knew i would buy it straight away

I knew I wanted a car, that was bloody fast and sounded good ...ad oh looked so good perfect :D :hyper:

style is important to me and the zed is just right for me

still here be 4 years this summer.... much happier with the car, still work to do, no going back now

LMFAO :D

Because it was expensive and I wanted to get rid of a perfectly good Toyota Supra Turbo and pay lots of money on garage bills instead for the Z! ;)

I didn't have a clue about performance cars and my mate bought one. I couldn't believe you could buy a 'ferrari' for 5k! so went out looking at lots till I found a good one. Bought it, blew the engine a few months later due to dodgy boost gauge and not knowing how to be careful of bleed jets! re-built the engine in a stable over the winter (froze me tits off) with no engine knowledge, a workshop manual on laptop, and asking lots of questions. Bottom end went 3mths later (probably because I didn't replace the shells, novice ). Considered getting another new engine and finally discovered this site. My current Zed came up for sale and within 30mins of the advert coming on site I was on a 450mile trip to have a look and buy it. Test drove it hard, and bought it there and then. Top decision, only thing thats gone wrong is a blown MAF from the HKS mushroom filter that was on it. Upgraded to r34 brakes after fading the oem ones at a trackday. Spent a fortune on tyres and petrol!

i saw one when i bought my mk1 mr2,and fell in love with them.......four years later after looking at a few i bought one........

I fell in love with the zed when i worked at a jap import garage 8 years ago, got my first zed 3 years ago and loved it but alot of things went wrong with it and couldent afford to fix it so i sold the red zed aka the red bullit lol.

Now own my 2nd zed limited edition impul 932s z32

Always wanted one since they hit the streets. never had the opertunity until last year. Its my toy. I didnt get it for everyday usage just sundays and meetings. I am scared since i joined this club to drive the fooker incase it breaks.   :mac1:

I WANTED A FERRARI BUT COULDNT AFFORD ONE :slap:

I'm not sure really.... it was either the Z or an FTO.

Decided the Z was the way to go.... :hyper:

1st one was because i was working out in the states and a guy i worked with had a Stillen modded one   so i bought one when i got back and replicated it :D then some jealous **** nicked it

2nd one me n the missus saw it on a car lot and just had to have it

3rd one .. still looking for  but wont be long before i get it :D :D

im getting as bad as mr chunk
