Also what about bass tubes as opposed to subs ?? better ,,worse ?? I know the 15" subs arnt as punchy as 10's and 12's but they just cant hit the notes i want.

FWIW, I highly recommend The ARC/KAR audio range (I'm using them myself). Not long ago they brought out the "Flatline" which I reckon will suit your needs ;) Check out http://www.nearfieldaudio.co.uk/. If you like what you see give Matt a bell and say that Leigh with the 300ZX at Bodywork Plus sent you. He's a great chap who REALLY knows what he's talking about and is heavily involved in the competiton/demo car scene, rather than just a salesman who's only concerned with reaching target figures.

Leigh.

Go with JL Audio all the way mate. In my opinion and many others, the best subs in the world.

I reckon one JL 12 W6 will move enough air for you. They are amazing but not cheap!

MB quart handmade us subs superb quality mate very expensive .

ive got a 12" vibe. sounds pretty good and cheap prices

Had many years in building installs. Its not just about what make the sub is, the size and shape of the enclosure is more important. Each car is different i have just finished an install in my ZX - ONE 12" Mac Audio sub and it drops bass so far that i set car alams off outside my garage.

*REMEMBER ITS NOT ALL ABOUT SIZE* :hyper:

Karl.. ello bud .. a well designed box and a speaker that works well within the space you have available, its no good buying a sub that works well in a 6 cu/ft enclosure if your boot area is only 5 cu/ft, it makes all the difference bud as well as a good amp and charging system .. PM me what install youve got mate along with battery , wiring and Cap .. if fitted .. its not always down to the sub.. ive heard tons of stories about this 1 is better than another ..its down to budget and what kit goes with what and what style you like to listen to your music

Gotta go with the experts on this.

Get the car to an expert.

I have had my 2 12" JL audio subs in various cars with varying results.

FTO was fantastic, Celica gen 6 was very disappointing to the stage bI changed the amp to see if sounded better - didn't.

Read a site full of info - took ages to read and digest.

Basically, good sub just about any size well placed in corrct enclosure sounds better than the best sub placed wrong.

I finally put my subs anchored to the floor 6" from rear panel, facing backwards.

The sound was great. Experimenting and moving them only a couple of inches either way made a difference.

If spending a 500 quid on a hifi set up, is it not worth spending another 100 to get sounding like like it cost a grand?

if you want oooooooooodels of deep bass then i would consider ither a jlaudio 10w7 . but the only set bk is the price. they are realy tight and realy musical to. but with any good sub you need to drive it right so a good amp is a must along with a good power supply. ive got a 13w7 that i had in my other cars and have yet to put it in the zed. only setback is that they are on the heavy side, others to consider are Diamond audio, they make excellent speakers so take a look at the D6 range ... personaly i would not touch vibe or the likes as the quality is not there. (no disrespect guys) ;)
