Guys and Gals,

My GF's Bro has just passed his test and is trying to insure a Renault 5 GT Turbo (my old motor) he's only 18 and obviously negat no-claims! Anyone know any insurance company that might give him a decent quote?

Just tried Elephant and they quoted 4472 squids! Eh? You having a laff Misseur Elephante, FFS, where are all these kids that are driving high powered motors and heavily modded getting insured?

Most of them look like they're only just outta puberty and yet they're driving around in Punto GT's and Corsa's maxxed upto the hilt.

Plus my other arguement is this...what these kids have to do now to even pass the test in the first place is nigh on being qualified for MENSA, what with the theory and hazard awareness etc.

Surely most of the young drivers of today are much better and more competently qualified to get behind the wheel compared to most of us from yesteryear who only had to have a couple of lessons, do reversing around a corner, three point turn and a sodding hill start! LOL :D

TIA

I owned a R5 Turbo when I was 21, cost me £1400 for the year in insurance & that was back in 1990

It had been chipped up to 150BHP & used to go like fook!!

Yeah, and you did over 130 in it, wouldn't fancy me chances at that speed
