I know it sounds a bit odd...

But... When i go through the revs (between 2000 and 3000) there is a hooting sound from my left rear exhaust... it sounds like i got a bloody owl in there... it stops as soon as i take my foot off the gas..

I think the sound happens due to the same principle of blowing over the top of a bottle makes a sound...

Its bloody irritating and i want it to go away.... :smash:

Anyone else had this problem?

Any ideas on how to make it stop??

HI

You are right about the bottle noise it could be down to one of the following

Baffle tube having a split in it

or

packing in the box having a gap in it

or

A combination of both if it is a particularily large man eating owl with an extra loud hoot!!

Hope that might help

Cheers

if its a man eating owl im gonna have to put my magic gloves on!!!

Nope... It's goose honk from your re-circ valves, that's what your hearing... The would explain the oooooohh noise!!! ;) Mine used to sound like an owl before I changed to blow offs...

I once bought a Saab that wouldn't run. When I pulled it apart for the bits I found someone had jammed an apple up the exhaust.

You never know, someone could have jammed an owl up yours...

...sorry mate.

Good luck

Recone goose honk myself buddy. I've got it at the moment. Just fitted a stainless myself and its just magnified the noise by ten FFS

i could not hesr the noise b4 i changed the exhaust... what u recon i should do?

Or you have a trapped owl?

I think i have located the problem........

Ok mate, first of all remember that when your moving al long the goose honk noise can sound like it's comming from underneath or the back or your Z because the moving air takes the noise that way.. As long as your fit the right BOV's, you will not loose any power.. I Simply removed my re-circs, blanked them off and put new blow-offs as close to the throttle boddies as I could fit them.. (The Correct way of installing BOV'S!!) you will benifit from keeping the turbo spun up when changing gear and also no compressor drag...

Hope this helps!!!

Jon

also dont rule out the viscous fan clutch, this can also make a noise similar to what your saying, but more commonly recircs

cheers guys...

I hope you are enjoying your holiday Greg...

Ryan did some work on my Zed yesterday - replaced an O2 sensor and sorted my gearbox oil leak...

Would you guys be able to fit some BOV's for me? i will go and buy some if you can reccomend which ones to go for...

Ryan said i need to sort the break servo's anyway... i could get it all done at the same time...

Have you thought of asking Bill Oddie? Im sure he or any other leading ornithologist could at least settle Feather it is a goose or an owl noise. Your obviously tawn between the twit too two. (Sorry its been a hard day).

cheers guys...
