Getting gold paint of a steel alloy wheel

This is not for my ZX but for a work mate. She was unlucky to have her steel alloy wheels sprayed gold. Is there a cheapish way to get this removed?

    you could sand them, have them blasted, or spray silver again over the top.

     

    For a bit more money, you could have them powder coated or profesionally polished. If she's not scared of some elbow gease, then try this link:
