hi guys, does anyone know the actual offence the police can charge you with for driving a car on jap plates?

i have motor traders insurance,a valid mot displaying my chassis number, and a receipt that ive paid for road tax.

customs have been messing me about having me fill in all sorts of forms because they are too stupid to listen so i cant register the car till i get some declaration of vat to give to dvla,

so i'm now planning on using the car on jap plates and would like to know whats the worst they can throw at me?

thanks in advance(and sorry for the rant)

a rather pi$$ed off Paul

I'm not too sure, but I have heard on the grape vine that they can and will give you a damn good pants down spanking for that sort of behavoir.... :slap: ;)

I do love a good pants down spanking PMSL...

or the full 'nine yards' with the old night stick lmao (i'll shut up now) :D

Come on Steev-o, you have gone way too far now dude.....PMSL...

You are on your own.... :slap:

You can get a £30 fine for not displaying registration on a UK car, I assume it's the same for an import pre-re-registered?

when you say you have paid the tax m8??

you mean you registered it and sent them (or handed in at dvla) mot

insurance and import form etc and got a receipt

if so you DEFFO can't drive it legally on the road m8

also bear in mind plod CAN also do you for not displaying a tax disc:(

pain in the arse it maybe m8 i'd hang fire

ive been through a few of these and even to drive it home from the docks/import auctions your only supposed to drive it to a prearranged garage;)

hi m8, the only thing holding up registering it is i need the declaration of vat as customs told me i needed a vat 414 form cause it came from holland despite me telling them it was never registered in holland,it gets a bit tricky as the car:

came from japan to holland, all taxes paid in holland, bought by myself and shipped to newcastle,i have the T2L? document, japanese de reg certificate, shipping receipts etc including a notice of arrival from NSA in newcaste,i went to register the car today to be told customs sent me the wrong form,i now need to get the right form and send it with the T2L doc and a covering letter explaining why it went to holland etc and it will take 4-6 weeks(which was the killer for me) to get the vat declaration back but dvla still took my reg fee plus the road tax fee(thats the receipt i have)so basicly i intend to drive it home(edinburgh) from the place of mot(kent)with no plates and was wondering what they will do me for if but more likely when they pull me?

sorry if i was unclear about any of it lol

thanks again

i think thats the safest m8, its just the same as when a car goes for a vic check as its not officially registered until it clears,

as long as your insured and can state its booked into so and so's;)

pity you havn't got any trade plates?

i would leave the jap' plates on rather than try all that distance with none

especially with the plods vrc

but deffo get it booked into somewhere m8, at least you'll have some comeback;)

thanks again m8,i dont have trade plates and also i found out the jap plates are off it so i'm afraid its the get stopped every few miles trip without plates, but i'll get it booked into my mates garage for an mot just to be safe.
