Bitch of a job, you need to really get it done somewhere recomended that have done it before like PPS or similar. I fitted mine, and started to blend it in, ran out of time and gave it to a local body shop to do. 200.00 lighter, and it looked great, but lasted all of about 6 months before the paint started cracking and the padding / filler started to crack and lift.

The tailgate skin looks great when fitted, but for ease if you just want to get rid of that nasty spoiler I would whip it off, and put the replacement pannel in the hole that Z centre does.

Wise words.

Other alternative is to weld up the holes left by spoiler removal. Paint and fit the Nissan rear black perspex panel.

Gives you the stock NA factory look.

Whenever you bond plastic to metal ie using the skin, you run the risk of subsequent cracking, due to differeing rates of expansion of metal and fibreglass, no matter how well its done.

how much does it cost to remove the stock spoiler, buy (and fit) the perspex panel and then fill/respray the rest of the hatch? my zeds silver-i think its prob the worst colour for paint matching IIRC????

I looked into doing this, went to Dawsons in ferndown. They quoted me £300 to remove the spoiler, weld up the holes, and respray the tailgate.

THANKS MATEY I LOOKED INTO DAWSONS ASWELL. THEY HAVE A GOOD REP DOWN HERE.

300 thats cheap i would of thought by the time you buy a tailgate skin ,removal of existing spoiler, blend new skin in,and paint more like 450 - 600

yep Dawsons are deffo at the top of the bodywork tree

i checked it out yesterday and i know exactly what you mean max power styling at its best LOL

i may give them a shout tho as i have een some of there cars in the flesh and the paintwork is fantastic.

hmmm, all sounds bloody expensive to me.... try and find a mate of a mate who works at a bodyshop and get em to do a guvvy for ya, make sure they have a good rep with the local cruise crowd if ya can, always helps, and get them to do it...

as an idea a mate of mine is replacing the stock rear spoiler with a fibreglass one bought off here, PLUS giving my car a FULL respray in the same colour, all for £400.. its to be done in his own time where he works, will be baked and fully machine polished...

i know hes a mate, but the figures quoted above seems a bit high...

I aksed this question about a year ago. Everyone who had a Tailgate skin fitted at bodyshop replied saying around £150
