Right basically i got the car (i got ripped off obviously) in about november, since then i have spent loads of money fixing the fooker.

Tonight i got a compression tesat which turned out pretty dam bad and points to the ring being fooked.

So now after already spending so much im left with 3 choices.

Do i get the engine rebuilt?

Get a replacement engine?

Break her?

Someone please help.

Im so sick of the dam car i could cry now

an I bet you still hammer it around trying to get better 0-60, wheel spin, top speed etc

start again dude! break it, then spend a bit more time looking for a good un, as if u replace the engine, whats gonna go next? gearbox? clutch suspension? if one part of the car hasnt been looked after you can bet the rest of it hasnt got much better attention. with enough hunting, u could find a nice manual tt probably with sensible mods and a recent rebuild for about 4 and a half, depends how much your willing to spend

and each to his own but thats a nasty colour!!

Hey Bird Brain LOL

None of the above in that poll just have it checked out by some one that knows what they are doing. You may have to travel but it will be worth it.

have to agree with Mac

stop fiddling and get it looked at by an "expert"

could save you a lot of cash and heartache, may cost you a few ££s

but may save you a hell of a lot more, especially if your thinking of breaking it:(

or leave it as it as we'll miss your daft posts

I know how ya feel bud, I bought mine and spent a further 10 grand near on trying to fix it up all the time.

In the end I decided enough was enough - and started to break it.

As Mac says, I'd personally take it to Baggins or Topless or someone reputable to go over it all and have a look. They'll give ya an honest opinion on whether to break or fix.

I agree with MAC, get it checked by an expert. They should be able to suggest once they have a look at it.

It is a shame though. I feel sorry for you.

What is the engine doing wrong anyway mate?

Is it running that badly?

Sorry to hear about your mishaps.TBH it seems like nearly everybody on this Forum has had to spend some money on their Zed when they first get it but you seem to have been one of the unluckiest ive met.

Anyway i wouldnt break it-u have had a manual conversion. That must have cost you a bit and the other bits you have bought have made it nearly impossible to recoup anyway near what you have laid out.

Take it to a specialist and find out exactly whats wrong and take it from there, theres always light at the end of the tunnel....

I think it is time to Listen to these guys Pal, Get it to a specialist and have it sorted

I know how you feal bud its a ongoing pain in the arse seems to be the case for a lot of people take a break from it then get a specialist to look at it some times you just need to step away for a while have a breather;)

My advice is don't break her whatever you do, that means all the money you've poured in will be for nothing, may as well keep going till you get something out of it.

Mines been off the road since I bought it in March last year, and I still haven't finished (actually I had finished but the replacement engine I put in fried so I've had to put the old one back in). I've lost count of the number of times I've thrown tools at the wall and 'given up'.

MAC, the person that has been working on my car is very good with the zeds to be honest with you, he has been working with them for quite a while now, he was the mechanic at PPS so knows the zed very well and is kind of a specialist anyway.

I seriously doubt any of the specialist garages will tell me any difference to what he will or has, thats no disrespect to any of the traders there of course.

The thing is its a hell of a lot of petrol to find out the engine is goosed, probably close to a couple of tank fulls in my car,

i agree with the general consenses on here take it to a specialist bud ,theres an old saying "nothing good comes easy"keep going son

How much did you pay for the car and what have you spent on it? and why did you buy a car in a colour you didn't like in the beginning????

I wasnt aware that you have a good mech on hand to tell you.

I would still keep it though. So is it rebuild job then?

Its a bottom end rebuild. if it was a normal garage then i would take it to specialists but its not, its someone that really knows the cars inside out and is also someone that i trust :smash:

Glenn, I pretty much got the car swapped for a celica i had, lets just say he's definately had the best out of the deal.

As for what i have spent just look at my sig, i have a little bit more to add to that though. :headvswal

I dont mind the colour when its clean however its one of those colours that get very dirty 5 mins after its cleaned and then just looks like an old colour.

Who knows, its pretty much been bad since i got it.

It was origionally an auto and it seems the box was on its way before i got it, martyn at zen then changed it to a manual for me, he didn't notice it was running wrong though when he drove it, then i needed rear shocks, some other bits and bobs too, and now its a rebuild job, or maybe a new/second hand engine if there's one for an ok price that is.

It looks like its the rings on mine because after i got a 7.5 reading on the compression test i then did it wet and it jumped up to 9.

i discovered i could get a recon engine for what i paid for the rebuild though it would be taking a risk-after all you dont know the history of the replacement unit.

Depends on how much you can spend and if you really feel like continuing. When mine went wrong i as tempted to take a hammer and match to it.

Are you sure your exhaust valves are not burnt out through running with the timing so far out?

You need to get an endoscope down the spark plug holes and visually check everything out before you commit to a set of pistons/rings.

So you've spent nearly 3k on it and now it may need a new engine? It's a tricky because you could just go on a on and then the turbos could go next. Get it checked by a Zed specialist and then decide. If it does need more money spent on it and If you don't like the colour I myself would probably break it and try and recoop some of what you've spent on it

Hi mate sorry to hear about all the problems mate i had such i nightmate with a charade gtti. Its so dishartning when all you seam to do is spend money.

:headvswal .But i hpoe you get it sorted.
