All this exitement about chromimg headlights and the better lighting for night driving, and costs of £200 and the trouble of taking your lights out as well, I think you should decide what you are after.....looks or brighter lights. Admittedly they really look superb chromed but I bought a set of HID's for £120 plus £25 postage from Australia, and they are absolutely incredible. Its like driving in daylight. I am considering buying a set for mainbeam as they look decidedly yellow. If your into the bling bit and fancy the work of taking your headlamps out, why not just buy some chrome paint at £7.95 and the HID's at £145 inc postage, and end up with the best of both worlds for less.

there is a HID company in the uk and the kit is £155 inc shipping http://www.visionbulbs.com/ they also do group buys.

Got both Chromed inserts and running HID kit. Chromed inserts look brilliant, not sure if they make any difference to performance of lights though. HID's are a must as the original lights are awful. It was £85 to get the inserts chromed properly, no way would i just attack them with chrome paint! The end result could look poor and may not last :wack:

Chromed headlights done have much of an affect on brightness.....in fact the light is being reflected upwards rather than outwards. HID's are superb though

have chromed inserts - purely for looks, wouldnt use chrome paint from halfords - doesnt give a very good finish.

will get hid's eventually!

Where did you get yours from, if you don't mind me asking, mate?

I'd like to know as well.

Also, did you need to do any complicated wiring to ensure that the HIDs don't switch off when you go to full beam?

Thanks, Mike...

Myself & few other members bought HID kits from aus for 136 pound delivered with 1 yrs warranty, hid kits are very good quality & you can choose different kits (eg) 6000k or 8000k, also danny ( DTA) in traders section can supply hid kits & if theres enough peeps may be you can arrange a group buy.

Have to agree with the above, HIDs make a huge difference. Got them on my Z and are pretty good. Last weekend took my headlights apart and applied some chrome film (from homebase) to the inserts. Initially thought about painting them but was dubious about the result, obviously getting them vacum chromed would of been the best option but went with the film. Was a bugger of a job to get right but with a bit of patience the end results were not too bad. Quite pleased with me lights now

they look pretty smart ronnie... i was thinking of doing my lights like that too... but one of my mates might be able to get some chrome plastic light inserts sent from Japan... need about 20 people to join in the group buy to make that happen though...

how hard was it to get the insert out of the light?
