Hi

I've always wanted a 300ZX and I guy I know is selling one. It's a 1989 G Plate Twin Turbo Automatic Fairlady. Does anyone know anything about these? ie is it a good one or is it the one to steer clear of?

Oh and I have been on http://www.confused.com for an insurance quote and it came back very high. Any ideas on this?

Thanks

What he said need to know more than that bud

Fairlady means it's an import which is fine.

Is it a 2 seater or a 2+2?

Targa roof or regular metal ('slick top')?

As for insurance - there's no magic answer, you have to phone 8-10 companies to get the quote down. Try Bell Direct.

Confused.com always came back with really high numbers, have to go to the sites themselves and check. Try admiral

How much is the car dude?

How much is the car dude?

Too be honest I have only seen a picture, so I don't know all the details.

But it is for sale for £2,500.

However if the insurance costs me almost £1000 is it worth it I ask myself.

Then again it is a 300ZX we are talking about here. Of course it is worth it. he he he

i have a 'g' reg jap tt. lots of things to concider but i ensured mine with 'more than' £388 full comp, no claims bonus for life, £700 excess ,45 years young.

I have a G reg. There are a few things you need to be aware of on an 89 as opposed to all others. But nothing serious.

one thing you could tell us is how much you have to spend including insurance as we know of a few cars for sale owned by members that are awsome.

Hi All

Well I test drove the car. It was a Fairlady twin turbo automatic TT, she is beautiful. There are a couple of things that I wanted to ask you guys though.

1) There is a crack in the bottom skirt at the front. How much would a new one cost? It was silver like the car of course.

2) There is a ping ping noise when I drove it above ummmm 50mph I think it was. What is thata all about?

3) How much does a service cost? It had about 100,000km on the clock.

4) The brakes are very very hard. Comparied to my slow 1.5i Automatic Honda Civic. it has been sat on his drive for a while so will this be the problem or is it just a case of getting used to a different car? I almost crashed it into the car in front at the first junction as I couldn't stop it.

5) It has been parked on the side of his drive next to a bush. The bush has dis-coloured a small section of the side. I'm assuming that this can just be removed with T-Cut?

Oh and he wants somewhere near £3000. MOT until September and no Tax.

Thanks for all the help.

never go for the 1st one you see test drive some more 1st .best to get one off someone from the club aleast you know the history...

100,000 kms is about 60,000 miles so chances are it would need the big (cambelt) service. It's £390 at the Zen Garage and you could pay a lot more elsewhere.

Brakes don't sound clever.

I'd be fairly certain T_cut will shift the discolouration but it's hard to be sure.

i agree i wouldnt touch this car to be honest, my car sits in the garage about 4-6 months a year in the winter and the brakes still feel good everytime i get her out in the summer. :p

as for your service costs i pay £50 for an oil and filter and just short of £100 for new spark plugs. Dont need to change the air filter just get a performance one :D

The guys is my girlfriends old boss and has always been a really nice guy, so I doubt he is trying to con me. Maybe the brakes are just different to those I am used too. I wanted to get a vehicle check however the guys the AA recommend don't check cars this old. Anybody know an expert? Garage etc.

Hi

Anybody want to reply to the other points raised above?

Thanks
