It's bores. Hence the oil in the inlet manifold. Take the oil filler cap off and it pulses oil vapour.

 

I have a new engine now. A 43,000 kms engine. So fingers cross, this one should be decent.

 

Thanks for the comments about the car. It still never gets driven in the rain/salt/grit....it's been sat in the garage for nearly a month now. So it should stay nice for a good few years yet.
