I am looking at buying a GPS road thing for inside my car. Anybody got any suggestions. Budget of up to £300.

TIA

I used a sat nav for the first time last week, it was tom tom and it took me from my house in wales to chunkz front door, without a single mistake, cost my mate £300, and i would recommend it to anyone, ill get the details for you mate, but it really was excellent

TomTom One or TomTom go 300 both excellent units in your price range.

The TomTom One is a smaller unit and uses a newer faster chipset than the GO, and has all the other features but its speaker and battery life (you can however run it from incar charger) is under par against the 300.

PM me for more Info!

I would prefer a PDA with the software on it, if that makes sense. But I would still consider full sat nav system.

Preferably with easy and cheap updates

thats it, the 300...small colour screen touch screen does what it says on the tin....

Tom Tom 300............... does it do european roads too??

Yes mate if you buy the relevant cds costing about £100 IIRC

you can buy little sim cards for any country you want i believe mate, and you can update it too

LOL! is that mph or kmh? i would have to say kmh looking at boost gauge ;)

So it's £100 for all the cds, or just buy memory cards for individual countries.. any idea on cost of the cards?

Alternatively TomTom Go 500 Comes with 'Major Roads of Europe' (and bluetoot h and faster processor) and the "Go 700" comes with European Maps are pre-installed on 2.5GB Hard Drive.

KMPH m8, got a few guys in work with that one. Boost gauge is like that as my sig says. But hopefully not for much longer. I am bidding for one on ebay now. It is a PDA with tom tom on it. Can I just add the camera positions onto it?

Just bought this one:

PDA GPS

Could use it for work too. Hopefull it will be everything I ever need.

spot on mate - shame its a wired gps and not a bluetooth jobbie but youll be reet pleased with the result.

He says you can bolt it to your bike if you want but as far as I know the wired GPS needs a 12V supply so you would need to carry your car battery with ya - lol

LOL I know bolt it to my bike. Well I wouldnt put it on my road bike anyway, rule is the less weight the better. After all I am pulling 16 stone alone, way too heavy for a cyclist.
