HI All,

Ok took my original Tape player out today - already bought my cd player, so got the iso connector adapters and the arial - 2prongs into 1 thingy and great - all connecting fine..

Go to turn on the CD player aaaaannnddd.........nothing.

hmmm so i refer to the ..da.da da daaaaaa, manual (!) and it says to disconnect the battery - whoops didnt do that, so i disconnect the battery first and try again and still nothing, i didnt think it would make any difference tbh, no im thinking maybe ive blown the internals of the Cd player by not disconnecting the battery first? anyone had this before?

Thanks

Ed :duffer:

In-line fuse? not sure what that is but it has a fuse to the side of the connectors on the back of it, 10A i think it is, yep tried it with ignition off-on, engine on and nothing.

i had the same problem. i had to cut the earth on the iso block and earth it direct. good luck!

good point - there was an earth on the old one - which obviously i took off and ddnt re-connect but surely that wouldnt affect it working..would it??

yeah. i pretty much garentee thats the fault. i didnt disconnect the battery when i fitted my stereo, and it works.

when yo say you had to cut the earth on the iso block and earh it directly what do you mean? sorry - this is my first time...so to speak !

Jusy get a wire and connect it from the metal of the radio case to the cars chassiswork.

Where was the old wire connected?

The unit should normally ground through the metal frame.

ie. radio screwed to frame and frame screwed to chassis.

I guess some radios isolate the units chassis.

cheers everyone! got it working , it was indeed the earth - just connected the old one to the metal case of the new one and it works! which in great, no i have to get new speakers as there pretty aweful! so now..

1. i need a new bracket to hold the stereo in the centre conslole as i broke the other one trying to detach it from the old stereo (it was welded on and ive threaded the screws and not totally bent the entire thing try to get it off!)

2. Speakers - back ones look pretty easy (will any speakers do or do you need amps as ive read that the original have amps in them?) and the door speakers - do the whole door card need to come out?)

thanks again.
