Right how do i start with this one my car has done this twice now and it scared the shit out of me!

Oil pressure when warm sits just below 4 on the factory gauge at 3 grand on motorway which i presume is fine today coming home from work it dropped to about 1 and scarcley above zero on tickover bear with me here so pulled in garage pooing me pants thinking me motor is ****ed turned engine off turbo timer ran for 1 min 30 and off she goes. I check the oil make sure it has some and its fine???? not used a drop so i debate wether to turn her over as im 1 mile from home so i think fook it turned the engine over and the oil pressure is fine???????????? :headvswal twice this has happened and twice ive nearly pooed me pants!!! Im changing the oil at weekend and putting mocul oil cooler on am using castrol gtx 10 40 at moment am i doin anything wrong anybody recommend a diff oil? i change me oil evrey 3000 miles

The car runs pefect no rattly crank a slight tappet noise when i start for a millisecond but thats it. :headvswal :headvswal :headvswal

factory gauge is crap get an after market 1

Most likely culprit is the sensor rather than the guage. New ones are around £80 from Nissan so aftermarket is the cheaper option.

I personally prefer the stock interior without loads of guages, hence I forked out for the Nissan replacement :wack:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

mines not working properly either,....... i hope!!

if you were getting crap readings but the guage was working properly how would the engine be running?

My stock unit never worked. After market replacement fixed it same with the boost gauge..

it sure does put the wind up me when it happens will install a aftermarket one next week i have one somewhere. Like ya say it wouldnt run it had no oil pressure. Just realy freaks me when i see it happen the factory boost guage has never worked since day one lol true reliabilty for ya. Glad to see it happens to other people aswell.

My sensor caused this exact fault but mine would drop to zero after 2-3 miles. I bought the car like that and was bricking it all the way home hoping I hadn't bought a knocker! Changed sensor for another used one - no probs since. AndyZ will probably have one and they're a piece of p155 to swap.

Just bear in mind if you had no oil pressure you engine would self distruct in less then 30 secs, Mine does the same sometimes it works sometimes it dont.
