IMO he said nothing wrong. His punishment is a travesty of justice and a disgrace in this supposed "free democracy". It is typical of the current gradual erosion of freedom of expression/speech and if taken further could be a very serious move in the wrong direction. The cowardly politicians frightened to condemn "minority" exteme reaction to the above, is likely to garner support for extemists (BNP), as more and more white Brits feel discriminated against. :smash:

Ken Livingstone seems to be almost alone in his abiility/will to stand up for his rights. I'm not sure I agree with his politics etc. but that is irrelevant in this instance. Even the holocaust denier should not have been put in prison.

Free speech is important to maintain an open debate in order to help society move forward and avoid tyranny. Any "off limits" topics may in themslves not be that important, but once you set a precedent, it allows all kinds of organisations/cults/groups the opportunity to operate without criticism/scrutiny. Think Hitler started this way.

Do you agree ?

yup.

He was annoyed, he made an off-the-cuff remark, and it was a bit rude... and that's it. Most of us probably do that on an almost daily basis (I do). It certainly doesn't indicate that he's anti-Semitic (I've heard the interview recorded by the reporter he made the remark to). He shouldn't be suspended, and frankly it's not worthy of national news coverage, and probably not even local. The reporter is clearly a bit of a chancer out for some publicity and a career boost. And the rest of the media, and the PC fringe, being arsewits, just jumped on the bandwagon. All IMO of course.

I also agree with this principal......

......however on a personal note, Ken Livingstone is a :xxx: and I'm pleased at what happened to him

Very childish I know and bad news for democracy, but f#ck him.

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Yes what he said does not warrant the punishment

Think he is being punished for years of being a BELLEND, IMO

NO offence intended but equal ops and political correctness are the new Nazis trying to mould human beings freedom of expression!

A lot of my relatives have died fighting people trying to restrict freedom of speech, and people should have a right to say what they want in this contry as long as it is not insulting.

I have met Ken Livingstone and as far as I am concerned he lived by his sword and he has suffered by it!

I gotta agree, the man is a complete twerp. What he said was out of order and he deserves all he gets...and more...

This is gonna sound a bit stupid ...I stopped reading the news and watching the news a while back...just got sick of the stupidity of it...so whats happened to ken livingston?
