I think I've got a serious problem.....

...so I could use some serious advice.

Today I got flashed by a gatso. But this is no ordinary gatso, it flashed me going towards it, on the opposite lane. There was no white lines underneath my car, they are in the opposite lane (2 lane road, 30mph zone).

Am I going to be shafted by plods' truncheon or what???

Has anybody been prosecuted in this way??

This speed camera has only just started doing this. Because before this week I was zooming past it without a problem.

I am currently sh*tting myself, as it has taken me three f*ucking times to realise what's going on. Have I just capsized the boat going down shit creek???

I would appreciate some sensible answers/facts please.

I got flashed by a face-on in Devon at the A361 (about 90 in 60mph) and heard nothing. There are various stories about whether they contravene the human rights laws (photo of driver etc), but I think that is all bull.

i wouldnt worry if i were you, the same thing happened to me on the a49 and nothing happened. i remember thinking it was wierd at the time cos i couldnt recall a car going in the opposite direction so it must have me being flashed. Anyways the idea that they flash you from behind is that it there is potential for you to be dazzled if they flash you from the front, therefore it is deemed unsafe, maybe the camera is fucked,

let us know what happens.. fingers crossed

not to sure i was told today in rochdale that there are cameras that haven't got the white lines ane the sensors are in the road ?but at the same time if you where driving in the dark facing a camera and it went off shurley it's a saftey threat to driving safte that is why i would say you shouldn't have a prob ?not a hundered percent but unless you hear any thing i wouldn't worry unless you have too!

best of luck though m8ty!

Dont panic, if your going towards it, it will flash but you WILL NOT be prosecuted!

I do it every day on the way to work, great fun, the people going the other way shit themselves, u should see some peoples faces.

I was flashed last October. The police have 14 days to notify you of intent to prosecute, but they allow 17 due to postage.

First off is that most GATSO are now being converted to piezo strip triggers. Strips in the road as opposed to radar that yer good old home grown radar dicktector won't even sniff!

Second is this...if you get a NIP(Notice of Intended Prosection) through in the post get yer ass down to a solicitor of the law and DO NOT REPLY!

Wait there...

Here it is...

When are these new laws coming in for GATSOs

You know the law of the must be painted brightly, not hidden has to have a sign saying with in 100m and all signs saying there is on and isnt, have to be removed.

What I heard was that there are three types of radar gatso...

Emtpy boxes

Dummy boxes

and real ones..

The empty boxes do sweet FA, just there to make you cack yerself.. The dummy boxes have a radar unit in, but no camera (thats the expensive bit), and their radar unit is cheap and cheerful, and can't tell the difference between closing speed, and speed away from the unit. Real ones .. well they're obvious smile.gif

it could be one of the new cameras that gets you for tax.....if you are flashed its a worrying wait for three months because after that they past the statute of limitations for said offence

dont know wether it is true but i heard they couldnt do you with a picture of the front of the car it has to be the rear number plate that is why they they only have to have rear numbers on motor bikes or lots of motorbikers would nt get dun this is what i have herd any way

Thank you to all that have replied so far.

It looks like I have to sit tight for two or three weeks and see what happens.

Maybe I'm being paranoid at the mo, but what the clucking bell happens if they have a photo of my mug driving. Am I correct in saying they can't use it because it contravenes my human rights?? What do I say to them then, if they know it's me driving??

toger13. Sounds plausible, bikes don't have a front number plate do they.

Timmy. Cheers for refrence to your old post. Ill keep it in mind.

Matey, DONT WORRY, ive been doing it since the bloody things gave birth and should have 10000000000000000000 points by now if it nicks you. It cant, how can it process your speed against the white marking if its taking the reading backwards. It takes two flashes to mark your velocity or MACH rating if its Iains red tomato. If your cars traveling at it in the wrong direction it would have a bit of dificulty in taking a positive mph figure. It cant be done, mind you a notice of prosc. for 90 in reverse might be interesting.

Dont worry your safe, my DI mate says so!!!

I've been where you are, twice in fact but I didn't get anything through the post.

Cheers BigRoy and Cos. I hope I am worrying over nothing. It's taken me 10 years to purchase a Z, I don't want it taken away from me so soon.... frown.gif
