Set my boost controller the other week to run a max of 1.00 bar and the saftly llimit at 1.10bar. It was running and holding a bar boost lovely. Now when i set it up it was a cold evening (2 degrees C). Last week in the day I went out and on the same settings and got 0.86bar (air temp was about 10 degrees i think). I though maybe i might have changed the settings and forgot, so readjusted so that it was running 1bar on full boost, all was fine again.

ย

Went out last night (air temp 0 degrees) it hit 1.16bar even though the controller is set to cut boost at 1.10bar, way way to high (though car went like stink). So readjusted back down and made mental note.

Does this sound like a small boost leak? seems weird how air temp makes such a big difference?

Air temp makes a HUGE difference.

Depends how good your controller handles the spikes.

I think some of the boost controllers can make corrections for this (and also altitude) but most don't.

may not be a boost leak then :), i had visions of the turbo going bang when i saw 1.16bar on the guage. Mind you 1 bar is a bit high, but as i normally run my car on saftey boost levels all day and just use the 1 bar once a month if that.

Boost controller is the old style Blitz DSBC, Ill have to check what its set up to retard when limit is hit as i think its only on 5 percent at mo.

That's a bit gay!

Set it slightly lower and with a higher cut back and it should be fine.

I've got the Blitz one too but can't remember what settings it's been away so long. Will have a look later.

The colder the air, the higher it's mass so you can get more fuel in with the air. That's why Turbos run better in the cold than the war.

Sorry for telling you something you already know.

...turn it up, add water injection and go for broke...

If got the ration set at 61 andy to get 1 bar, but from what ive read most only need this set at about 55? Ive got the gain down very low as it was set to high and then causes surging. ill have a look at my settings also and post them up.

Yep i know i run it normally on low boost due to drivability in the wet, also car sounds better as you cant hear all the other noises (turbo's, Induction) just the purr from the exhaust.

ย

Im wary of running 1bar in the curent weather as i managed to loose the back end under high acceleration from 50 recently and nearly wipedout another club member, twas quite scarey. Ive got 4 modes set (1=wet/ice mode (saftey) 2=Wife Mode (Std Boost) 3=Fun Mode (.80bar) and 4= MMMMM mode LOL
