Cancer Research Project

Go there 1st, sign in.

Right. DOwn to the nitty Gritty.

Ive run through plenty of ideas, rang up people and I finaly come up with this idea.

The Idea.

We as a club buy a decent Zed, a nice one, no dog, maybe kitted and tuned, seen good examples going for £5K, imports even less (I am sure someone can help out here). Maybe a few of the traders can tax write off some stuff.

Each club member chips in and get a ticket or 2, then we sell tickets for a draw which is done at JAE.

Its simple, It will raise more money, it will cost each member LESS and you could end up wining it and being quids in for a good cause. There is also the factor that if we run an "event" you will have to fit in your own petrol costs, this is a lot less hassle and more user friendly.

Plus you could win it.

There are issues, granted, but tehy are not as big as everyother idea I have looked into. What you guys think

Good Idea mate but have you done the math???

Say 100 kind 300zx.co.uk members say "I'll help" and split the costs, thats still £50 each. IF you can get 100 members to part with that I'll be suprised.

Not having a go or puting the principal behind the idea down. But Its a lot of cash to raise between not a lot of folk.

Surely if this did work and we raised 5k. We would be better off just handing over 5K in Cash to the charity????

just reading that nick and you've made me think,

lets just say that there was 100 member all putting in their £50, well what would the charity actually get cos the car would be £5K and thats all we'd have made

Chris was saying that the car then gets raffeld at JAE and on Ebay. Would only make 3k at the most doing that though. So thats 2k that could go to charity thats already been raised thats wasted.

Your right nick, to a point.

Anything we do as a group will involve an inicial outlay of time and money and the club as a whole wouldnt get a lot from it, it would take a LOT of organising, badgering and becoming unpopular with people who would hinder the project. Been there , Done that, got the book about to be published.

What I wanted to do was something that involved as many people as possible as a club. The problems are that if we do loads of fundraisers it would incure a cost of each persons time and money. And there is little to say we would get more than we put in. I certainly dont have 3 years of time to put into a project that could only net a few grand.

I was looking at £10 to £15 a ticket. This is chicken feed compared to a tank full of gas. maybe a few tank fulls. Look at the few sugestions. For arguments sake, say giving people a rid in the cars in some way, how do we offset it agant the gas used.

If we all agree to do it as a CLUB and not individuals we would easily make enough money to purchase a car from this club alone. With some marketing and knowing a few other clubs have likeminded people we should do better than £5K.

Then pull the ticket out in front of the crowd at JAE, I am sure they would allow that. The club would get a major pat on the back, and we get a major bit of help to a much needed cause.

Of course, if people arnt intrested, then they wouldnt be intrested in anything else so would save me a whole lot of time and effort to find that out.

I still think its not a great idea. (the car thing, not the raising money for charity)

At £15 a ticket we need 333 tickets sold just to buy the car! At this point the charity is getting nothing as all the money has gone on buying the car.

My personal opinion is that we would be VERY hard pushed to sell 333 tickets in the first place let alone a shed load more so the charity actualy end up with something.

Hats off to you Chris for taking the time and really wanting to make this work, but i really think with this one idea your floging a dead horse.

Dont give up though, get on the drawing board and keep at it untill you find one idea that does the club and most importantly the charity a lot of good.

This is only my opinions and would be nice to see what others in the club think? Why the hell is this thread so quiet???????

Im up for buying a ticket but like takemetothepub says your going to be hard pressed to sell that many why dont you speak to the organisers of jae and see if there willing to promote the idea of selling the raffle tickets along side there own tickets optional of course but at least it might genarate more sales?

great minds think alike.

problem is whatever we do as a club, anything else we have thought of will take a sheet load of organising lots of time, and the chances are not for much more.

This is Simple, advertise and sell wherever, if 200 guys sell 1 ticket to 1 other mate then its a done deal. but as this is a club event I would hope more would push them.

As there is little intrest in people actualy showing up for a event as displayed by yhe other post where I was looking for intrest, this seems like the logical solution.

Anyway I'm going to take a back seat and see what the responce is like.

on a slightly different tack , the only flaw to this great idea is we have to sink capital into a car that is only sought after by zed nuts and its not a small amount to be collected ,either plus the "do it up" money !! people allready have cars etc etc dont need another one no space to park it etc etc ...dont get me wrong my son nearly died of a brain tumour so i know first hand what a worthy cause this is .....how about if we as a club fund this .its a 5th of the price of a zed is a great day that everybody would enjoy if they won it we could sell tickets throughout any club as its not brand specific and we could pop the tickets out for a fiver a go and only need to sell 120 tickets to break even if we included 250 quid rail fare prize in with it ............this is a deal for 2 people so the winner could take a mate to enjoy the time with or wife partner whatever ..

This sounds like it would appeal to a wider audience. In addition, we may even get the tickets free/greatly discounted if we plug the company (eg: Red Letter Days etc..) One of my clients deals in this sort of stuff (http://www.intotheblue.co.uk) and I might be able to get the MD to sort us a cheap deal...

Let's see what the other opinions and feedback is first though..

see there are cars out tehre thatdont cost 5K. thats was just a top end. And I am sure tehre are loads of kids driving saxo's that would be persuaded to invest.

Thats the point, we have to as a club get people to invest in the idea. but I cant very well do that if we dont invest. but thats no different than any other idea.
