i know nothing about cameras but its between the 7900 and the 7600. i would go for the nikon 7900, you might as well pay an extra £20 for the 7900 becasue its got a bigger screen on the back, few more features and it looks better.

pentax optio s60i so small but brilliant pictures , lightweight , loads of features ,

and you can get a waterproof version .......ive had mine a year and love it

The L1 is a great camera and its got the biggest optical zoom but in all fairness anything with Nikon stamped on it will be absolutely fine. I use a Nikon SLR and its awesome. Get the L1 and enjoy.

I have a Kodak that I got a few years ago, its superb and the software is nice and easy to use. Sating that the wife blurs everthing with it, so we got her a Panasonic and thats superb because it has an image stabilizer thingy.

Now my thoughts are, if you want a digital camera then you should look at made by people that have made cameras for a long time, i:e Kodak, Nickon, pentax, Olympus and so on.

You should also look for what type of lense they use, my wifes Panasonic uses a Lieca (i think thats how its spelt) and they are probably the best you can get.

You can buy lots of cameras that state this function, that size gizmo and do this and that, but all you get is a box of non important tricks and crap pictures.

Go for optical zoom over digital, true resolution over effective, and the best lense you can find and you should be fine.

Good luck.

The Coolpix 7900 is the best small digital camera I have used. I have since upgraded to a D70 Digital SLR, but the quality of the coolpix pictures are fantastic.

just been to pc world as i get 15% off with work,

only had the nikon L1 shame it had no view sight on it as i dont want to use the lcd screen too much as it flattens the battrey,

they had the 5600 but they said that the 7900 was the old model and 5600 was its replacement!!

i doubt very much that nikon has gone into reverse with their camera technology as the 7900 is 7.1 mega pixel where the 5600 was 5 mega pixel sounds like a sales pitch to me LOL!!

so its decided then nikon 7900 1st choice

nikon 7600 2nd choice

so its decided then nikon 7900 1st choice

nikon 7600 2nd choice

I don't think you will be disappointed with either !!
