Has anybody else got AVS alloys on they seem quite common on imports , or has anybody fitted Pirelli P Zero.s on there zed ????

The reason i,m asking is after having my alloys refurbished i fitted Pirelli P Zero,s all round , i knew my tracking was out so i got it into work and did a 4 wheel alighnment , rear track was slightly out and the front alot out , camber and castor was in tolerance , sorted the tracking , job done i thought.

When driving now at slow speeds my car seems to want to follow every bump and hollow in the road , the steering pulls from side to side trying to follow the undulations in the road surface , its quite alarming

Would wheels with the wrong offset cause this , i don,t know the offset of these wheels i,ve got :headvswal

or could it be the tyres as it pulled a bit before changing to Pirelli,s but i put that down to the tracking being out

These are AVS alloys

Not trying ta be funny but had same problem with a 5ltr M5 with P Zero's turned out the front tracking was .4 of a mm out (within tolerance I may add) the car handled like a shopping trolley..

sorry to hijak,

Craig, which would win the m5 5.0 V8 or the Z running 15 psi?? Mate reckons he could beat me. I told him to save his money, buy a Z and go for weeks of private dances.

Still think it's the tyres dude!-was o.k with the wifes wheels on.................

Tyres fella!!

Dave before I answer this. Pair of tyres for the rear of the M5 £748.00, the wheel valves have pressure sensors in them and must be fitted by a BMW main dealer. If you drive the car like a Fa**y it still only does 18MPG but best of all giving it full ye .. haa the dam thing will still have a TT right up it's £2300 four pipe exit system. We just had to try it :) .. I'll tell you though it's a cracking car and is more like a 3 series to drive you can't knock the quality and the six speed box is amazing.

Tyre pressure`s!!

What tyre pressures would you reccomend Jeff ?

They are 235,s on the front and 255 on the rear all 40 proflie . Cheers

Assuming all other things like tracking, bushes etc have been eliminated then I would try 34psi in the front and 36psi in the rear, then as a test drive a few miles until they are at normal running temperature and then return to the bit of road where the tramlining is usually most noticable.Assuming the problem has gone then great, however now you need to reduce the tyre pressure all round by one psi and retest and so on till the problem returns, once you have an idea of what the pressure is where the problem retuns you need to run at least 2 psi above this to take in to account of pressure variations in colder weather.

Also and this is important, at the end of the tests check the tyre pressures at at least 3 other gauges to be sure of a true reading and remember it!

As tyre walls get lower profile they are more reliant on the correct tyre pressure to maintain a true wheel line, also once after market wheels / tyres are fitted there is not a set pressure because there are so many factors between different cars and wheel combinations once you have a pressure that works for your car with those tyres then stick with it and do check the pressures every two weeks, unfortunately tyre pressures are not always checked enough. ( we are all guilty of this)

Also the wheels do have the plastic hub adapters in place don`t they?
