does anyone else have dificulty luanching there zeds,

i took mine onto a local industrial estate and tried a couple of standing starts and when i floored it the back end was all wibly-wobly it wasnt crazy but was enough to stop me really tryin, could it be the rear tyres not wide enough (there 255s) or maybe not good enough(khumo ecstsa or somethin :wack: )or maybe im just sh1t :headvswal anyone else have similar probs

while im on the subject of tyres can anyone help with this small prob ,ive got 225-40-18s on my front wheels but im wanting to put 235-40-18s on wiil they fit im not sure of the width of the wheels, their lenso GMs and i THINK there 9inch but its not easy to measure with the tyres on :wack:

Featured Replies

depends on what boost your running, on std bost i can floor it, but with raised boost it goes a bit mental at the back end

ohh and i went from 235 back to 225 on the fronts as it was tramlining like a bitch with 235's.

not to many revs keep it just below spool up so when you acclerate your not on full boost

hold the handbrake on whilst holding revs, dont do this for to long in an auto, not good in the long run

if you have a manual as soon as the backend starts to step out change gear, chances are your at 5-6k rpm so should be at boost for next gear change

if you still have problems fit racelogic TC steve [cybernet sell it in the traders section, some decent tyres and decent road surface helps

i pretty sure its just standard boost but not 100% whats been done exactly under the bonnet as im the first british owner.

i its not good buying an import with not much history but you know what its like when you fall in love with a motor especialy a zed.

its got the usuall mods exhuast, filter, dump valves and iridium plugs other than that i cant be sure.

if you still have problems fit racelogic TC steve [cybernet sell it in the traders section, some decent tyres and decent road surface helps

Thanks for the plug Greg :D

Traction Control helps a great deal with the Zed. Allows you to launch at high revs without losing the rear at all. Can be fuly adjusted (or turned off!) if required. Unlike factory fitted TC, this system really adds to the fun of driving ;)

sounds damn fine, maybe ill have to start raiding my piggy bank.

while the missus isnt looking

I could boot it with an auto in the dry with standard boost but now with upped boost, it's a no no, slip and slide!

Same here buddy :headvswal

it could be a number of things, uneven tyre pressures, shocks on their way out, too much play in the hicas arms etc etc

haveing the hicas arms changed next week so fingers crossed

You should try it in a Manual, all that extra power going to the rear wheels and no slippy torque convertor means the tyres are lit up and the back end is fighting you with sticky 265 rubber on stock boost.

Tyre choice makes a big difference. Worn shocks, rear subframe bushes, and hicas arms/bushes will have an effect on the rear end breaking sideways and overall traction.

You can fit 255(maybe 265) on a 9" wheel so yes, 235 not a problem. Tramlining should not be an issue with 235 fronts on the zed, and is more indictive of worn suspension components.

as scoops suggests theres a possibility of it being the hicas arms - i damaged mine a while back and the rear end was all over the place, even during normal driving when going over bumps etc. once that was fixed then she started to behave herself again.

sounds damn fine, maybe ill have to start raiding my piggy bank.

TC is a great accessory, but as said above I'd get your suspension/HICAS arms properly sorted first

well i think the only problem with the suspention is the hicas arms, and should have that sorted on friday.

If you are in a manual another good tip is to hold revs for a split second before changing gear, not so you can hear it even but do it for less than a second, as if you change whilst the revs are rapidly climbing or rapidly falling the car is going to jerk and become unbalanced which will add to, or start, the fishtailing. Takes a little practice.

(learnt that on my advanced driving course!)

Or you can fit the full throttle shift option

oh but thats a good option,i like that :duffer:

LOL - I had a little go with this recently. It's a bit like driving an auto with a clutch and gearstick (if that makes any sense :wack: ) Very nice on the Zed as it keeps it on boost through the gear changes

All prices are on the first post of my Group Buy which is running until 17 March! You need the Racelogic TC system fitted first and the Full Throttle Shift is an add-on option..
