was the cheapest option for now though mate, once the car is ok i'll start putting things in good places but it was only £20 which at the minute is better than £50 for a pillar one or something

Just use some masking tape to stick it to the side of the dash or summit for now, get it running right then worry about mounting it. The troubles you've had with your car you need to keep a firm eye on the gauge, it being down in a din is not a good idea, specially in this weather ;)
