Hi guys,

Trying to fit my Megan de-cat pipes. But, they do not fit very well. Tried altering the bend, but moving stainless steel tube, is impossible. Do not want to use them as they are. Will put too much strain on turbo mountings and gearbox support. Can anyone recommend, what they did to fit theirs?

Plus, my car is a UK TT manual. These down pipes are really close to gearbox cables and pipes coming off gearbox. Is this safe? I am concerned that the radiated heat coming off pipes might damage cables and pipes. Was thinking of otherwise wrapping pipes in exhaust heat banding.

What do you think?

Regards

Kev

I found the fit of mine wasn't quite stock and they hang down a bit further, I've heard that series one cars need the pipes to be shortened by a couple of inches. I just kind of crammed mine in, although I'm gonna have to modify the bracket that holds the pipes.

With regards to heat, I think the cables are pretty close to the old exhaust location so I don't think you'll have to worry and more than usual.

generally, if they dont fit that well, they could well be copies and not the real deal, so to speak...Where did you get em from?

I supplied these, not copies, they are tight but should fit like a glove.

Just a thought, dont fully tighten any of the parts till they are all hanging roughly in place. I made the mistake of fitting one side and then trying to fit the other, eventually i loosened the first side and the second went together quite easily. Can't help with the gearbox, mines an auto.

mine fitted ok from chris mines a jspec but shouldnt make a difference?
