yes as far as i know, you need them to pass an MOT,(otherwise how would anybody no you are reversing).

sorry m8

actually, you dont need them for MOT.

i take my car to a real strict mot tester, and it has passed twice without them, they are not part of the test

mine havent worked for 'kin ages now, and i cant be bothered to crawl about underneath to find the wire.....

makes it even more difficult than normal to reverse tho frown.gif

i think the only legal requirement with them would be the bulb colour

Coogs mate, I dont know about the legality of reversing lights but if you are driving at night then try turning your car around and flooring it in reverse.

You will be able to see alot better with the reversing lights than stock crappy headlights.

Why I even bothered to type that crappy shot at humour i just dunno - Coogs has the bacofoil on his headlights so he can see where he is going LMAO!

There ain't many lights dimmer than std headlamps but the 'versin lights are one of em. It must never get dark in Japan. Maybe thats why it's called the land of the rising sun...

did some checing today. It seems that reversing lights are optional. There are very few regs. The main ones are you can't have more than 2, they must face rear, must be white light and not more than 24w per lamp. That's it. Given they don't light anything up when you use em I might lose mine for the sake of art...

If there are revese lights on the car and they dont work you fail. If there are no reverse lights on the car, you pass. Some cars that are still on the road hsve no reverse lights, like some old cars dont have an indicator.

Same as rear wipers and spare wheel, you can fail if you rear wiper is not up to the requirements but you cant fail if the car doesnt have one.

Spare wheel, you can fail if its bald, punctured or no useable for the car. But take it out and they cant fail you/
