Had mine decated last year. that and the fact i turned up my boost controll to high,

hey presto seal gone.so now im saving to have new tubs fitted this spring but this time im going for the jwt530 i think and this time leave the valve timmer alone once set up.And yes still no cats becuse no one can prove 100% otherwise that they do damage to the tubs when removed.

last 2 cars we have had in have had failed turbo seals within a couple of days of decats fiited,so if you can afford new turbos then go for it

alot of people have decatted and had no probs, luck of the draw,15year old turbos are taking there strain,as with other parts

the fact is when cats are removed backpressure changes and adds strain to already weak seals so id say it does play a factor in premature seal failure

when i done mine i had 2 very small back pressure boxes built in the middle section just to give a little back pressure for this reason

i also want do decat but still not sure, however i got my stock tubs recon 2 yrs ago and havnt even done 10,000 miles since, also change oil every 3000 miles so would i be ok to decat or is it still possible for seals to go with in months ?? if i go for down pipes with mini silencers would they retain some back pressure ??

yes bud ,exactly what i did

does car feel more responsive ? and is it really worth decatting cheerz

in my honest opinion,,

feel free to shoot me down,

but when the origonal turbos were designed and fitted they wasnt expecting us to come along and start modding them , ripping out the cats and loosing back pressure to help the turbo seals,

but now days you can make the turbos with stronger rear seals to cope, or better quality turbos i personally wouldnt risk it if you still have origonal turbos in your car !! my 2p worth .

no can of worms mate, you have hit the nail on the head

i have mongoose on mine, the quad style ones but i do have decats . but i have new turbos , they have bin on the car now for over 3 months no problem !! suplied by ryan and greg , there a lot stronger, so i wasnt bothered about having decats fitted which i did , went for megan racing ones, no problems yet,

Think an X Pipe in the system will provide enough back pressure to stop the seals blowing ?

think there is a market for these decats with some back pressure to be honest... certainly enough guys thinking of decats so they would sell... also guessing they would help keep some of the noise of decatting down a bit...

think you could get a few more like those on the beast made up?

hmm fitted xpipes to my old zed within 5mins of fitting-smoke,so debatable, sound awesome though, and made a differance over standard decat setup

X pipe will work exactly the opposite way as it causes an exhaust vacum pulling gases
