i have an aftermarked airfilter on my na z (k&n :wack: )

what i would like to know is there are two ovel shaped air ducting hoses either side of the filter which are remnants of the original airbox.

can these be removed or should they be left as to aid airflow.

im assuming the old airbox was originally sealed and had to suck through these pipes wereas the k&n is open to air

please advise

cheers

gaz

Bin em'! :wack:

do you recon they dont actually do anything anymore as it would help to remove the headlights.

Your right it does!-no they are just remnants of the stock airbox bud!-just chucked em' off the wifes shorty! :)

I've have'nt checked the path of the air ducts but surely they force air through the ducts via the bumper while travelling at speed....and removeing them would reduce additional airflow to the filter.

they seem to go backwards into the wing so no forced airflow by the looks of it but correct me if im wrong :wack:

Your not wrong mate!

Glad you asked this bud, as mine are still there when I tried tugging them out they did'nt want to come so I have just left the there. If involves removing the lights again to get ridd of them they can stay as I have put my lights in and out now over 8 times. Let me know how you removed yours mate.

will do.

i want to remove them to aid the removal of the headlights!

Sounds like a good idea but I am used to doing that now and they do'nt really cause me much problems, they just look shite when you open up the headlight panel. I was going to originally mount my H.I.D Ballast units inside them but found somewhere better.

did you remove the lights without removing the bumper bud? as i really don't want to take it off :nana2:

Yeah mate peice of pi55 through the front indicator holes 2x philip screws.

Also a usefull tip is once you have removed the bolts from the back 2 cut a slot in the end of them with a hacksaw and the you can un do them with a flat screw driver to make getting them out easier. HTH

I removed mine when I had the bumper off last year and was a doddle, just a few 10mm bolts holding it all in. Didnt remove the headlights to do it and while the bumper was off I found the ideal place for the ballast on my HIDs (shame they dont work). Could be a nightmare of a job without removing the bumper.

My Stillen front bumper was really easy to take off, about 15 minutes work, might be because there is loads of space to get your arm in and remove bolts etc.?

cool hopefully a job for tomorrow if im feeling a bit better! crossed fingers double dose of painkillers coming up LOL

My H.I.D Ballast units are mounted directly under the light itself using the double sided sticky pad I got with them and they work great. They sit directly above the big round hole under the lights as there is more room.

Your ballast packs must be slimmer than mine, that was my first choice of placement but didnt quite fit.

I would say my ballast units where about 20mm thick, bought from Chris GetGreddy.

Yup slimmer than mine then, wish I went to Chris for them, they might actually work then. :headvswal
