I need something clearing up on the topic of cats and exhaust restrictions.

I have a J spec 91 TT Z so does it have precats on it or not?

If not I have heard that it may have restrictors instead to meet the 280HP level for Jap.

Finally where the hell are the precats if it has them or restrictors and is it easy to get rid of the buggers?

PS fitting the delimiter this weekend and gearbox oil cooler.................gonna go chew some road as soon as done hehe

if there is no precats it will have 1.5" restrictors in the pipes just before the main cats these can be ground out with a dremel type tool if you want.

yes there are cats just after the downpipes,off the turbo!you can replace the section from the downpipe where the cats are,or replace the downpipe with a complete decat systym

 

there are no legal mot requirements on the 300zx before 1996 IIRC as there is no co2 figures stated for the 300zx so you can decat and still pass the mot fine

are you refering to the cats or the pre cats greg??

If I fit a decat system as greg says does it also remove the restrictors as described by hellraiser.

passenger downpipe of the turbo is the precat so if you fit a full decat systym then that will do away with it
