How would four of these be on my Zed (import, NA)?

I know lots of people might say 225 isn't big enough but it's what Nissan put on in the first place and wider tyres / wheels cost more and I'm tight!

Would they be ok?

Cheers!

You will slide like a moother fooker on corners mate on my 17"s I have got 245/17/40 front and 255/17/40 rears. The more rubber on the ground the better. IMO

until it's wet, when the skinny tyre's will outperform!

True but will they out perform in wet with corners and also my tyres are Toyo Proxes so the tread is designed to cut through the water.

I dont slide in mine at all, 225/40/18, avon zz3's

Put yer foot down a bit more then :)

Tim, Get some fat ass wheels, at least 9x18 on the back!! You know it makes sense, If it doesnt, smoke a bit more crack bud!! :)

WOW!! Really mate even my N/A with 225 as standard used to hate round abouts maybe you are just a very sensible driver ;) Does'nt speed.

As long as you've got decent rubber then no problem. It's just an appearance thing. If I had a nice looking set of 7.5 inch alloys, I'd fit 1" spacers all round. Dead easy to fit. The only trouble is that they cost nearly £100 a pair! SRB sell them.

Jon

1" spacers!!! bye bye wheel bearings.

The widearch lads use spacers over 2" without problems

225 must be wide enough to give sufficient grip - all Japanese imports have them as standard and surely Nissan know more about the car than some bloke on a website with a funny name.

Kinda....apparantly there is some sort of regulation on Tyre profile heights in japan, which limits width.

The rest of the world got 245 wide rear tyres on the 300zx, with 8.5" rear wheels.

Another advantage of wide wheels is that they fill the arches better. 7.5" look narrower and come out as far to edge of the arches.

Im sure 7.5" (225) is fine on an NA...but 8.5" is better

i dont 315 on the rear and 255 on the front and i was sliding like a down hill skier ,your not finding the limits bud

lol, not having a go at you there mate at all.

To be honest I was reasonably certain Nissan did know best but someone (Legrath) has explained why going larger than a 225 would be good but also showed why Nissan didn't do it.

The wise man has spoken here.

Hi sorry to appear dumb here..... But I have been looking at wheels on a website & the majority appear to be 7" wide... Odd one's are 7.5 & some 8".

Do I assume that you need wider wheels to fit wider tyre's? Sounds obvious Im sure but I dont know?

Also do most people run wider rear wheels? If so where do you buy they from like that!?

My bad I was looking at 17"s.. doh!

Same questions about tyre width & diff sized front.rear wheels though! :)
