ive just tryed another fuel pump ecu but it hasnt made any difference car still wont start however if i bridge the fuel pump relay i can hear the pump prime, but if i were to connect relay back on & turn key pump wont prime, i have tryed another relay checked all fuses and reset ecu, also i took fuel hose off the fuel dampener and cranked car few times & there was no fuel coming out not even a drop, so the only time i can hear fuel pump is if i bridge the green relay, so what can it be ?? all advice/suggestions appreciated

Yep i took one from the main use box well tryed two different ones, but ive been told that ive proberly damaged the fuel pump by bridging the terminals is this possible ??

No worries mate, just really :confused: what can it be as you know ive changed most components, so why isnt fuel pump priming when i turn ignition & crank car even after resetting ecu deffo not relay as ive tryed 3 different ones & another fpcu & pump

It is almost certainly to do with the crank angle sensor(CAS) situated on the righthand side of the engine and affixed to the end of the camshaft. This controls the injectors and the fuel pump. If you mark its position and then remove it, turn on the ignition, and then rotate the shaft of the sensor with your fingers (in the same rotation as engine would turn), you should hear the injectors click and the fuel pump run. It may just be the connector to the CAS unit. They do tend to be affected by damp so make sure it is clean and making good contact.

yes i agree, if the ecu doesnt know the ecu is cranking because it isnt sensing movement from the cas then it will not switch the fuel pump relay.

the pump will prime when the ignition is turned on, but this is a timed feature of the ecu and does it on power up.

 

by the sounds of it, i would doubt if you have done any damage to the pump by bypassing the relay.

I think he has changed/checked that already and JFYI it is on the left side of the engine, everything is taken as if you are sitting in the car.

 

The only thing left to change is the ecu NAD?
