when the car is sitting with the engine running the revs seem fine, however if i touch the accelarator there's a quick drop before they go up.

 

And idea what this could be?

Black plastic thingy mounted on the out side of the drivers side throttle body (i think thats where it is?) with wires coming out. You need a voltage meter and the correct readings at various throttle positions. All you do is loosen the fastenings and rotate it slightly to adjust it.

oh *****x!! Well my car has been at the bodyshop for over a week so thats my excuse and i'm sticking to it! :)
