Clutch & cam belt Scotland

I'm thinking about having a new clutch & cam belt fitted to my 92 tt slick top SWB before Spring. I'm based near Biggar (boarders ish). Can any body point me at a good repair man and what would the job cost approx.

Hi there,i just got my clutch and 60k cambelt service done in October, cambelt being done at the beginning of the month and clutch at the end, dont know of any good services in the Biggar area but as far as the price went for me the timing belt supplied and fitted came to 450 pounds all in and the clutch was 495 pounds all in supplied and fitted.Prices vary though depending on different labour charges.

Supplied all the parts myself by purchasing them from traders in the Traders Section on here.

Thanks for the info Ron, I'm going to have a go at the cam belt my self but I may get the clutch done at Calder Cars. You mau have come across them at some time during your Z ownership. Supply and fit, cost about 400 drinking vouchers.

Cheers John

I've still got a brand new uprated clutch - an RPS Sport Street one - for sale if you're interested, mate? I need to put it back up in the 'for sale' section (strangely!) again at some point..... Looking for £300 or reasonable offer for this....

Cheers,

Simon

I bought a belt from Nissan for about 50 quid and did the belt myself, I cant say about garages local to Biggar but my mate works in a garage in Darvel in Ayrshire, the owner had a 300 as did my mate so they know the cars. If it helps I could get a phone number and send it on to you.

On my Autodata CD the time for the belt is 4.3 hours if that makes sense, I took a week when I had my car at my old work and worked on it when I could.

John,

Could you also pm your mates number as I need a cambelt change on my TT and I work in Ayr, which would be handy.

cheers

Simon, I may take you up on your offer. My local garage said they would have ago at it - £360 including parts although they have never seen a 300 before, could be risky. I will check if they get up set if supply parts.

John, your mats number would be very handy. I would rather take the car to a guy that knows what he's doing.

Cheers - John H
