Do a search for PTU on here, there's loads of info.

Think theyre about £380 or something silly from Nissan UK.

You can get one in a couple of days from http://www.courtesyparts.com and it's half the price and just as quick.

Being a bit new with the terminology, I do not recognise the unit you are requiring, are you referring to the Power Transformer Unit. If so, I do have a spare one.

Power Transistor Unit or ignition amplifier basically replaces a distributor and coil...

If its the same I'll have it off you please.

The series 1 PTU will always go wrong eventually and almost everyone has this problem. If you buy another old one you'll probably have another breakdown sooner or later.

I'd recommend buying a new series 2 which doesn't have the design fault.

The earlier PTU was replaced by Nissan in a recall everywhere but in the UK...

It's on a classic car policy as a second vehicle for £360 :D

All mods declared apart from turbos and internals which you can't see ;)

Just to clarify I'm getting the right part, its the :-

Z32 Power Transistor Unit - PTU - 1990 to 1996 300ZX

Will this matter if I've got a 1989 Z ?

It's one of these:

Yes thats the part if it's a Z32 300ZX? not the earlier more angular looking Z31 model after the 280Z?

It mounts slightly differently with a new piece of harness that plugs onto the existing wiring. 10 mins to fit.
