Ran some 0-60 in the SWB today

Best I could get is 5.6secs.

Averaged 5.7 on about 6 runs.

Feels so slow though - my old red un was lots faster for sure (got a 5.1) - same mods 'part from ECU.

May swap it over and see if I get an increase - was hoping to see low 5's.

What are you guys running?

there is a lot more weight ie: bodykit, and the whheels may be wider than your red one, it makes a huge difference in acceloration when i swop my standard uk rims for my 18's, with 265 tyres on

maybe this is why it dont feel so fast

Not sure about that. Front and rear bumpers just replace originals, so no extra there. Side skirts are extra but weigh very little, and half the original metal arches are cut away to fit the fibreglass arches.

265 wide tyres going to give a lot more grip than stock wheels, giving better acceleration. Profile should be the same so wont affect anything that way...the only thing is that the wheels probably weigh more. But I would expect the grip to far more than make up for that.

Plus swb quite a bit lighter than lwb (more than bodykit and wheels weigh)

5.7 secs is respectable, although zed with chip, exhaust, filter and 13-14psi boost can get under 5secs

I'm hoping with my street drag tyres to get into the 3's ;) once its all set up of course :)

The moral of the Z is...they perform reasonably well for their age...but remember don't race what you know you can't beat, followed by, don't race what you think you can beat, only race if you know you can beat it!

Well its funny you should say that ;)

Friend of mine has just had his R33 built to a mega spec and is a potencial 9 sec car so once mine is done were going to test them together from launching to mid range just to see similar power cars together and how they differ so watch this space :)

Sounds very interesting, WE expect photos if not video...

dont worry there will be video ;)

all i will say before it happens is the R33 in question has just had £65k spent on it  600 bhp at all 4 wheels, 200 shot of direct NOS, 6sp Seq box etc etc so will be hard work and theres no way unless he f*cks un on the launch i will have him there but i want to know how the zed fairs after 2-300 yards and rolling at 70mph etc

I will take him on when I have finished the fuel pumps and maybe 700bhp at the rear wheels  rolling at 50mph no problem LOL :nana2:

just to get back on topic, my car will get to 60 in about 6.5 secsonds or something (i think).

However the car is mis-firing and only running on 5 cylinders

ive managed a 5.0, though with more power in an auto its so much harder to launch, ive lost the back end accelerating from 50, nearly wiped yami out

Mine just doesn't have the power to lose the backend

And im even running on slicks lol

;) dont get me wrong in the right hands i wouldnt expect to beat it but its not about beating it its about running close as like i say its a 9 sec car so when its all set up Iain i will let you know ;)

would have to disagree (am probably wrong though lol), the weight i would have thought would be more by the time you add all the filler, prob not much but would still hinder performance

the tyres if wider WILL IMHO make a difference as there is more road surface, yes you may get extra grip but the power loss through the tyres wouldnt realy make that much difference

remeber we are only talking .6th of a second

bud if ypou are only running on five cylinders, the last thing i would be doing is trying my 0-60 times

Good point but that was before i found out, its just because of the connectors. :mac1:

My zed does 0-60 as quickly as the AA truck its on the back of!!!!!!!!!! You should all count yourselves lucky!!!!!

No chance mate ;)

It'd take a very very (very!) special RWD car to get into the 3's IMO

I got 5.4 in my S13 before the4 new engine went in :hyper:

The main problem with getting a good launch in the zed is grip. Stock wheel sizes are just too small to put the power down, and wider wheels offer quite an advantage...especially one with Increased boost.

but jay also has the wider track to contend with IE: wheel spacers they must gobble up some perfomance, with all the extra weight before getting through the wider tyres to the road surface

see where you are coming from, and i dont have the knowledge to carry on this argument, but i do know my performance suffers with the addition of my bigger wider wheels

will just have to  out of this one gracefully

Someone stated mods like 14psi ecu, intake and exhaust mods should see under 5 secs. . . I got all that - and Im running on optimax - boost gauge is reading 1 bar.

I appreciate the body filler etc gonna be a tad heavier but its a shortie so its lighter anyway. I may have to try some 17" wheels on and see what goes there. Personally I wouldnt have thought there would be much difference.

Just feels like somethings fundamentally wrong. ECU reads a 55.

Booting it in my red Zed pushes you back in the seat - shortie doesnt :(

we shall see matey ;)

jay what are you using in the shortie to raise the boost? It might be the rate of on-set of boost thats giving the difference.. (if you have an electronic controller like a profec...)

Most electronic controllers have settings for how quickly the boost builds (to try and avoid spikes..) so might be something to do with that....

clearly not an issue with boost jets..
