when your remove old pads, there will/should be to thin plates that sit on the back of the pad, remove and clean! fit to new pads and smear copper grease on the back of the shim,in the place were the piston meets the pad, dont as you say fit it on the front of the pad surface,or disc

check calliper pistons for seizure or sticking, remove master cylinder lid, soak pistons in wd40 or similar and repeat, then carefully pry the pistons back in and out until they move freely refit pads job done

They should have corner clips as standard very small dont loose them.Mine still had them when i changed my discs and pads prodject u pads are very good by the way.

its not vital to reuse the clip but it keeps the shims together, when lineing up the pins

all i wanna do is fit the bloomin pads!!

shims, clips, plates fook me....

its easy si,it will all make sense when you remove them ;)

when you fit pads it is a good idea to let the bleed nipple go before you force the pistons back, youll be amazed at the colour of the fluid that comes out.probaly been in there 15years.this will give you a firmer pedal as old fluid has a lower boiling point.also i have heard of seals being turned over in the master cylinder if you just force the pistons back.for most cars this isnt a problem but it has been known on zeds.the improvement in pedal feel is noticeably different once youve bled some fresh fluid through.

as i said removing the master cylinder cover relieves pressure ;) ,but yes your right its a good idea to replace the fluid, but were talking about pk1 here he gets confused easily  only joking si ;)

um... see you sunday greg... lol!!

Just a thought , i wouldnt put WD on the caliper rubbers cos it damages them . Only use propper silicone grease.
