It didnt do it intill I dissconected the battery and changed the chip in my ecu im hoping this has something to do with the fact that i dissconected the battery and nothing to do with my soldering efforts...please dont be the ecu

Iwould double check the blue ecu plug mate make sure its properly seated in the connection common cause of probs when ecu has been removed also was it just the chip you changed or did you have to fit a chip carrier as well. make sure chip is fitted right way round , notch in end of chip towards middle of ecu iirc, if you had to fit chip carrier double check all soldered joints.

Yes I had to fit a carrier pretty sure I got the chip the right way around but ill double check the solder joints and the chip position is it possible ive toasted it somehow??Thanks for the advise guys

good chance the chip will be ok because you havnt started it but there,s still a chance it could be damaged also check you havnt damaged some of the circuit tracks that run under the chip when you removed the old chip, my chip was pretty well stuck to the mother board and lifted 3 of the tracks when i removed it some carefull soldering with single strands of wire sorted that tho.

hmm damaged tracks sounds like a possibility the chip was stuck down very well it was a ar**hole to get out

tracks on a pcb are just skinny wires and can be repaired if your carefull, trace the track back to a good section and clean the varnish off, solder replacement wire to this and route it along the same path and connect at other end, if its a small break you can just bridge the gap with solder depends how good your soldering is.

Hold your horses guys!! if I have read this right it is the "power" light that is flashing!

that light is for the auto box.

The flashing is not a code just an alert that a code is present in the auto box ecu memory, you need to do an auto box diagnostic and see what the code is, however you need to run the engine for this so you will need to wait until the cooler is connected up again.

The codes could be important or just a spurious code caused when reconnecting the battery, often when this is the case driving the car and stopping again resets the auto box ecu.

At this point it would appear that the chip change has gone ok, you could do an engine ecu diagnostic before starting if you feel a bit nervy just to see what comes up.

Thanks for all the help guys I would be screwed without the great support from this club with the ecu diagnostic let me make shore ive got this right you turn the ignition on then turn the little potentiometer fully clockwise and then back again and the light flashes at me count up the flashes and thats my code right  or wrong lol

We have a manual and the power light still comes on?

Then I'd guess your manual used to be an auto !

Ok ive printed all the diagnostic stuff out ill take it over to my zed and see what she tells me right now im hoping its the battery low, been disconnected,or control unit has just been reconnected code fingers crossed :D
