Bearing numbers!

waits for all the knowledgable ones to groan -

i know this has been asked alot, and there are quite a few treads on it, but just wanted to check im looking in the right places.

looking at the bottom of the block, with the pulley end nearest me.

i have 2 2 2 2 stamped on the left hand side, level with the bearings.

i also have what looks like its written in permanent marker, on the crank (journals?). - from the pulley end 51 1 ** 88. ( ** is there a number missing here?)

am i looking in the right areas?

the numbers themselves will change, as i will be getting the crank balanced and lightened, but take it i will need to know these, and how much the machine shop takes off to work out the new bearing size?

thanks all.

The bearing numbers will not change when you have the crank balanced and lightened as they will not touch the journals

on one end you will find a number beginning with F and then four numbers which by the looks of it is 2 2 2 2 this is your main bearing numbers you need to add these to the numbers printed on the block to give your bearing sizes

On the other end of the crank you will find 6 numbers for example 1 11 1 0 11 0 you will then add these to your rod end caps to get the big end bearing sizes,if you get stuck bring it over to me when you pick your heads up :D and i will go through the numbers you require

excellent - cheers bud!

woohoo!

so the 2 2 2 2 are the numbers on the block, iv now "found" the ones on the crank,

oil pump end - F1 111

flywheel end 1 1 1 1 1 1

thanks for the help
