NZR - Harrys you are the weakest link! GOODBYE!

Harrys advert on the smelly: "a water pump for a Citroen Xantia at 2pm on a Sunday afternoon? Errr yep!"

MY FUCKING ARSE THEY DO! mad.gif

OK my Mercedes is a 190E 2.3 16v Cosworth which I admit is a tad specialist in the engine department! Well not that much really, it's a Kirk block with Cossie heads.

When my temp guage started to throw an epileptic fit I immediately thought the thermostat or summat similar. So I bob down to Harry Halfords and they don't do one. In fairness they could order I think but not in stock.

They do sod all for that car, oil filter, air filter etc. etc. Basic stuff but they don't do anything!

Anyway, I need a new sump nut as the Ex-Nelson guy who lives over the road from me has offered to loosen off the rounded sump nut that I well and truly fucked! LMAO biggrin.gif

So I said to the Mrs Turbo that we should get a new sump nut for when I can do the oil change. So off we trotski to Harrys and guess what? They don't do one! Muppets!

So that marketing campaign is absolute tripe IMHO...non impressario at all!!! Oh they do magic tree air freshners for my car though! ROFLMFAO biggrin.gif

Are they good for anything automotive FFS???

P.S. can I also add that the 190E was a mass produced Merc so things like sump nuts should be readily available! wink.gif

2. Wanted £117.00 for 6 plugs.

3. The oiks that work there knackerd my brand new bike on pre-delivery service.

4. Twice they orderd parts for a 200sx!!!

& had to give me a credit note.

Only the Cossie Cos,

Got a mate in Sheffield though who lives and breathes Kirks. He's got a beast, 4.7 litre Supercharged big mother! wink.gif Don't know what model but it's nastey.

Ok - Cheers mate.

The reason I ask is that I actually have a 190E in the drive way. In inlaws have left it with us as they spend 9 mths of the year in Cyprus(Retired).

However, it has a slight starting problem in that it coughs and splutters when you are trying to start it. Plumbs of White and blue smoke. It wont tick over properly when cold and is a general pig until it warms up. It has been to a so called Benz specialist but still the same problem. Any ideas?

You're avin a laugh asking Tim that kinda question Cos... biggrin.gif

(Sorry Tim m8 biggrin.gif lol)

This is the guy who hasn't changed the oil in half a million miles coz he rounded off the sump nut wink.gif

Yeah go on then laugh it up big guy! biggrin.gif

Well at least the Germans had the nounce to put the oil filter in a decent accessable place on top of the engine instead of underneath! Vorderman Spring Dutch Technics etc. biggrin.gif

Cos, they all suffer! Thank god for forums on cars, the car manufacturers dupe the world into believing that certain brands are the most reliable! Bollox basically!

I've been on the mercedes owners club site and you would not believe the amount of non-starter problems people experience. Not just with the older models either.

Mine will only start with yer gas foot hard down on the pedal. In the handbook it goes on about only having to resort to that when the engine is hot etc.

Mine runs OK but every blue moon it decides to stall and not start again until it feels like it. Many other 190 owners experience this aswell. Dealers are arse and can't do much more in helping you sort problems than Nelson are to the Z!!!

I am starting to firmly believe that when you buy ANY car you are either blessed with a good one or are well and truly whacked at birth with an un-lucky stick! wink.gif

Az,

You may laugh mate, I may not be in the running for the Top DIY mech. of the year but I did manage to do the distributor cap, rotor arm and three outta four plugs due to the last garage threading the other!!! They're supposed to be the professionals aswell...muppets! Oh and I wonder how long it would take for anyone else to find the oil filter housing aswell without owning a Merc before.
